You should be looking for a cheapish condenser mic. Beyond that, I dunno, I slept through that class in film school.

Definitely get the Blue Snowball to save some money. Althought the best for the price is the Blue Yeti. Now these microphones you're thinking are way below your budget. Well the blue snowball is really $100, and the blue yeti is $150. It's just that they are cheap as hell on amazon.
