I think it'd be a neat idea if we could limit the number of entries into a giveaway.

Say I list a game and set it to a max of 50 entries?

Then again the list might just end up with full giveaways all the time...

Something to consider anwyay, anyone else got some ideas, maybe refine it a bit.

Meh. Seems like the only people who'd benefit are the ones who obsessively check for new giveaways. In a way, it's just another sort of time limit, but one based on the number of people checking the site rather than on actual time.

Fair enough, I just get a bit sad when I see 300+ people in a giveaway, so many disappointed people =(.
I'd like to set a cap of 25 or something sometimes, so people get a better chance at something.

I guess I could make it private, but that seems like suuuuuuuuuuch a hassle.

You could try setting private and then post the invite on the forum or the Steam Gifts chat. That would probably limit the number of users considerably.
At least it has for other similar giveaways.
Otherwise the one hour giveaways are the best you can do.

Indeed. Which is another factor for people staying on the site 25/7.

Time zones are evil ungodly things, like DVD regions. Grargh!

So we have pages of giveaways that have reached their entry limit but still run for another week ?

Trying to increase your chances of winning?

Normally I would say yes, but he/she has given 4 games so it could be a legitimate desire for their own giveaway.

Not really that concerned with winning myself, if it happens it'd be nice.
Was just looking at one I did for Delve Deeper today, limited it to one hour and it still got around 300 entries.
Only other thing I could think of was listing like 5 at once to make the odds a bit better, but it says I need more feedback. =(

You've given 4 games now so I would assume you wouldn't need much more before you could put up as many as you wanted.
The 5 at once is a viable option though... but it obviously increased the cost you'd pay for the gifts considerably over just gifting one.

I saw someone post a link to a private giveaway inside of another giveaway they had. If both were only an hour long, that would significantly reduce the number of people that see, and therefore enter, the private giveaway.

The idea of an entry cap could be cool though. Especially if the giveaway would end as soon as it hit the cap so that they don't just sit on the list forever. The downside is that it would increase the total number of points in the pool since there would be fewer points spent on it, but it would generate the same amount.
