what is wrong bumping that?

a pseudo-serious answer in your uber-sarcastic thread to my quite serious statement. that's too much for me.

Well actually I got confused. I noticed it because of the Civ 6 region lock thread made me go check the Monthly page. And Humble spammed me with 2 or 3 emails about other bundles. So these two combined into imagining I actually read about it in an email. :)

i even checked my spam folder and trash bin when i saw this thread. ^^ but no, no e-mail there.

Did they send an email? I didn't get one. Nor for the free games in the vault trove that became open to every account a week or so ago. A (one, single) thread to notify folks is not the end of the world. (I wouldn't do a second or third intentionally, though.)

I'm having a hard time understanding your point, then.

I tried spamming the first thread for the whole bundle... I tried so hard...

When the bundle unlocks make another thread please

It's not that big of a deal. There was only 1 extra thread made and I can understand why. Normally the Humble monthly bundles have early unlocks and then nothing changes for a month until the rest are released, so when you see a new game being given away and you don't know where it came from, you would not expect it to be from the Humble monthly that already released it's early unlocks and not think to go back and check that thread. Often when a large number of giveaways are made for the same game and people don't know where it was from, they will create a thread asking about it, so a user decided to be helpful and create a thread letting people know. I personally did not know where the giveaways were coming from and the new thread is where I found out.
And really, what does creating a new thread hurt? You see it and you already know where the game comes from, so you don't waste your time reading the new thread and just skip over it. The thread creator probably didn't know that "Owlboy" was now in the title of the Humble monthly (or maybe it was not updated yet), so creating a thread with Owlboy in the title will make it easy for people to use the search to find out where the game is coming from.
Edit: I was actually happy when I saw the thread because although I was not interested in Owlboy, I was curious to know if there was a new bundle that I was missing out on because I may be interested in the other games and there was no new bundle that I was aware of. Yes, I could of easily did a search and found out where the game was coming from, but the thread did save me some time.

When did I say creating new threads hurts anything? The whole time I've been saying the total opposite. What does creating couple dozen threads about the same thing hurt? Other than helping people to not miss it. So everyone go for it.
But if people are lazy and don't make enough of them, here's a backup plan:
https://www.google.com/search?q=where+is+owlboy+bundled --> http://blog.humblebundle.com/post/170082154133/surprise-its-owlboy-yes-we-just-unlocked as first hit.

A couple dozen? lol, if that was the case, then there may have been a purpose for this thread, but as far as I know there was only 1 new thread that mentioned the update.

I disagree. I don't think anyone needs to make more threads. There was a purpose for the first one because it informed people that there was an unusual update to the Humble monthly and that is where the giveaways for the game were coming from. Making more threads would serve no purpose.

So your opinion is that exactly 2 threads per topic is optimal? Some want less, some want more. We would need to test this with 30 games for example, making 1 thread for first, 2 for second etc to see what amount yields the best results. Maybe after first dozen the returns would be so diminishing that adding dozen or couple makes very little sense. But no way to know for sure until scientifically tested.

1 thread per topic is enough, but that is just my opinion, I do not make the rules. I think the thread in question was about a new topic and not out of line or unnecessary. There was an unusual update that most people did not expect to happen and the thread gave people information that was informative and useful.
Edit: I also do not think there should be any rule about how many threads can be created per topic. Just a simple rule about not spamming many new threads for the sake of spamming. This rule would have to be enforced based on the opinions of the support team and what they feel is appropriate.

You should prepare a topic for March bundle. I think people haven't figured yet its unlocks aren't available yet. That would be useful for clueless people.

If that were an issue you would see users creating threads asking what the future unlock are, but there are none, so I'm not sure why you would think that is an issue that needs a thread.
The information given in the thread mentioned here is a very common issue and probably would have been asked about if that thread was not created. It is very common for people to see new giveaways and not know what bundles they are in or where they are on sale, so they create a thread asking. Luckily we have nice users on SG and one of them realized this would happen and decided to create a thread informing other users of the uncommon update in a previous bundle that resulted in the new giveaways.

Yes, but sometimes that takes a decent amount of time or could possibly result in not finding the information at all. I have searched for many games that I saw a lot of giveaways for and not been able to find the bundle or sale because there was not a big announcement or it was being sold on some Russian site. Even using isthereanydeal.com can sometimes not give a result.
The amount of total time it takes for hundreds or maybe even thousands of users to search the same thing and find the result individually can be saved by 1 user doing the search and then posting it for everyone to see in an easy to find place that they check on a regular basis.
I was happy when I saw the thread because when I saw all the giveaways being created, but did not hear of a new bundle, I was thinking I would have to go search down where it is coming from like so many others in the past, but then I saw the thread in the first place I always check, the discussions. I keep the discussions sorted by creation date with new unread threads highlighted, so it was easily found right at the top while the updated monthly thread from 3 weeks ago was buried.

Sorry for the off-topic, but what script are you using for that, and what settings? It'd be a big help for me with the people who think it's cute to spam 20+ topics at once for post count.

A couple things:
Edit: I think ESGST will do it as well, plus a whole lot more.

No problem, I just noticed your comment and was wondering when the thread was last bumped. I figured I'd bump it and just link it anyhow.
I used to have a couple scripts / a modified version of Mully's dark style but at one point everything got wiped and I haven't really bothered since. I don't do too much on the site anymore though so I suppose it's mostly alright.

No problem. If you are not already, you may want to save your eyes as well.

Also, I just found this page that lists SG scripts. I personally only use a dark theme and the one to sort the discussions, but it looks like there are a lot of others.
Edit: Looks like Crocross beat me to it :)

Yeah it's all good - thanks to you and Crocross for the links. I actually have ESGST, but didn't realize it had all those sorting features until you said so. Never really bothered to go through all of them, but managed to find the setting you're talking about.
I've been using Mully's userstyle forever (and yes, to save my poor eyes).

Since it's impossible for anyone to notice the 2 earlier threads, I thought adding one more can't hurt anything. If you want to help others to find this out too, please don't reply here but make your own thread so everyone is sure to notice.
