Dota 2 is dynamic, in a sense that junglers aren't that much in demand than in LoL and roles are much more flexible (of course there are still roles, but they can have different lanes)
LoL is static, mainly because of the huge esports push, everyone flames you for not sticking to the meta, so instead of making some game breaking discovery, you're just going to have pissed off teammates.

I feel like I can't read too far into your post since I'm only really familiar with SC2 as far as e-sports go and I'm not sure how they differ in terms of non-tournament play (ranked matches, etc), but the meta game in SC2 (when I was current with the game) was able to fluctuate and evolve just fine at the highest end of gameplay, tournaments represent a very low number of games that professionals play (I assume this is true for LoL) and a lot of the discovery mode happens off camera (where the bulk of their playtime is dedicated).
Again, you know LoL, so I don't, so maybe I'm completely wrong, and I'm sorry if so :P

In LoL something is well done only if it's been done by a pro before. Anything but that will end up with you buried in tons of insults.

I used to play Starcraft: BW, eventually people started to complain that it became a rock paper scissors match with the build order the pros chose. Then came Slayers Boxer and Bisu (3 Hatch muta and Sair harrass respectively) they were known for their amazing bluffs and transitions into different BO's. They first came across as cheesy, but their builds worked.
Since there is an esports push, the tournaments represent majority of the games most of the players watch. So this has a huge effect on the gameplay. No one cares if your creep score is like 100 at 15 minutes (average) if you're not building the "correct" way, you're gonna get flamed for it because pros don't do it.

Well i dont like to get everything at once, couse then there arent anything to play.. i mean that i dont like to play games where u cant unlock things... and in dota 2 u cant unlock anything, than gear and its boring.
Still i'm playing it couse my friends play it, haha but i'm playing LoL too :P

yea but that's valve's Way of doing thinks. Look at Counter Strike.
Every game starts absolutely from zero. no perks, no advantages. If you are a good player you can play your first game imagine in a new account a still kick ass with everyone. The only thing that matters is skill.
I started playing Dota cuz i got curious when I received the free gift. I never played LoL though.
However the general idea I have is that LoL is easier and thus more fun to some people while Dota is more complex make it harder, and harder to enjoy.

^ THAT, DoTA2 would get more votes of course.
I play LoL and i like DoTA2 but I REALLY HATE BOTH COMMUNITIES (when they discuss anything about "dota2-lol"), they are trying so hard to make the other game look worse... I mean, at least try to make YOUR GAME look better, what's the point of harassing each other's game? Both games are fun, and different in certan things, grow up and stop being such a bunch of azzholes. But still, like someone said before, DoTA2 is harder, and harder to enjoy, and i second that, so as a "CASUAL PLAYER" i vote for LoL, i don't like to try hard in order have fun, and have fun is what it is all about.
Enjoy your game which ever it is.

They're different.
League is, yes, somewhat easier, it's also more streamlined and meant to be readable after some basic understanding. League is massively popular, and has a huge eSports presence. Complexity doesn't automatically make something better, and the skill ceiling in LoL is still very high (some of the pro plays just blow my mind)...the skill floor, or entrance, is just much lower so as to be easily accessible. LoL is intentionally simple, and that's one of the reasons it is so popular. It's simple, but also has a perfect groundwork to be competitive.
DotA is still evolving, as it's still in beta, so you see all sorts of cool new features cropping up, and its playerbase is growing as well. League is the big thing, and I enjoy that myself, but there's no denying DotA has massive potential, and is worth keeping an eye on for sure.
League is also changing a lot, though. The new season started up, we got a bunch of new items, balance changes, some changes to Ranked are on their way, and new champions are introduced every few weeks.
It all depends what you're interested in.
Let me know if anyone has any specific questions. I haven't played much DotA, but I'll try to answer questions regarding the differences as fairly as I can. I don't buy into the whole 'if you like one you have to hate the other' thing, so I'll just give an honest answer, or tell you I don't know. :)
Also, I wish people were responding with more than one sentence answers, I'm rather curious myself to see what people think, and why they lean toward one game over the other.

perfect groundwork to be competitive
competitive
lol
Any game can be competitive if you keep injecting money on it, and that doesn't mean that the game is really competitive.

I wasn't a MOBA fan until I met LoL, so never played DotA, a month (or so) ago I played my first game of DotA 2 and been playing (but not much) since. I believe being a non-fan-of-MOBA gives me a somewhat objective understanding of the differences.
I agree with all your thoughts on this, but I need to point out that from my PoV DotA 2 is based on the "lore" of the game, not skill as many people say / think. You need experience to play DotA 2 effectively -thus the nerd game-. For your first game of DotA 2 you're just a dog barking at all the cars that pass by you, knowing nothing & it stays for a relatively long time like that.
LoL on the other hand is easy to familiarize, UI is much easier to read & after 2-3 games you're good to go. But the difficulty to play it comes from the fast pace of the game. Milliseconds make the difference in LoL (see the resemblence with some other esports? :D ) So I guess it would be correct to call LoL, a game based on skill because if you are slower (for any reason) that day, it can cost you your precious victory.
About the "money" part, I've been playing LoL for a year (or maybe more) now & never spent a dime on it, yet I have 4 full rune pages & enough champions to play any necessary role. Also I like the idea of "unlocking" the champions, this gives the player something new every week, curious about the new free champion rotation.
PS: Yea yea milliseconds make the difference in DotA 2 too, but c'mon LoL is faster you know it.

LoL is faster? oh man, tell me more about how a puck can dodge Lion's ult with a well timed phase shift.
I feel that LoL is actually slower than DotA since the heroes cant blink farther than 500 units or so. there are so many skillshots on lol, but the ones on DotA are usually twice as deadly as other spells, for you can simply dodge them, if you can.
I played both games, I respect their own uniqueness, but I know bullshit when I read one.
about buying a hero, i personally hate that mechanism, you play the game because you want to play, not because you need to farm IP for your new hero, sure, it can work that way, but still its kind of forcing the player to play more. I've got almost 1000 hours on DotA, we dont need mechanics to force us to play a game we like, thats MMO bullshit. DotA has all the heroes unlocked right off the bat, sure it makes harder to learn, but it also makes you learn in a more complete way: the person who knows best what a hero loses to is the one who plays it.
if you played at least once every hero, you have a pretty good basis on how dota works, while on LoL there are those obscure heroes that you only see in a handful matches because hardly no one buys 'em.
anyways, my point is made, i'm a DotA person, and I feel that LoL is childish, but I still played it enough to have a basis on it.

just a little of cares to try to have a nice mood while posting was missing.
I respect MMO players, and having to unlock champions isnt like "Oh man, i still have to play other 15 matchs to have that one?". No, nothing like that, you will find an interesting character between the free ones on your way to unlock someone, you don't really farm, you play with the one you think that would work and if you like it, and you have the points, you buy it, otherwise you still look for a nice free character.
"MMO bullshit" is having to spend hours/days to have something useful, and this is not about it, you can enjoy every character if you want to, and if you dont find anything interesting, then play DoTA2 for a week (or other game), that's all. The system is not forcing you to play, not to me at least, i keep playing becouse i like doing cool moves and stuff ingame, you can't really say that a character that you don't see often makes your gaming experience worse, really.

funny, I have exactly the opposite oppinion about skills, since that creates a completely different class of hero: think of lina, on her you can build support/utility items and yet have a huge power at early/mid game phases, where on LoL a hero that comes close to her, Veigar, needs to farm, and thus is another carry. Lina can be useful even if she's underleveled, since stuns are always welcome and her ult can always finish someone off/bring him low.
on LoL, however, you either have to build support and don't deal damage at all, or build AP carry and try to carry your team.
another point worth mentioning is how supports work on DotA, while they're supportive heroes, they almost always have a powerhouse ult, such a Tidehunter, Crystal Maiden, Warlock, Enchantress, Witch doctor and a few others.
I like DotA specially for the fairness, everybody has the same chances playing any hero, since you can pick whoever you want and you dont have to worry about having the right rune set/masteries for each hero.
you can counterpick and pick situationally at mostly any occasion, if that's of your liking, and still, pick your favorite hero when you want to.

The Project is still up! According to the release list and the latest info after SC2:HOS Get released and the D3 Pvp patch 1.0,7 comes out the next in the line of development is this

There are different ways to reach to the win, and you can deny the enemy from gaining gold/exp in LoL, i don't get why people keep saying that you just can do it in DoTA2, since you have different ways to do that in both games.
You don't really expect that people in LoL watch you killing stuff while they just stay still, don't you? You have different ways to do it, some people still think that "MOBA" is an only game runned by different companies, and not a "Genere" where games can be different in certain things. I guess that those people are the ones that would say "Every MMO is a copy of WoW".

I don't play either but I have played both. LoL gets my vote for sure.

From a person wo played LoL 2+ years i can safely say Dota 2 is better, in LoL most heroes feel copy paste and the game is pretty linear, they have a very controlled playstyle which is easier to play but gets dull eventually.
