Every part of a dandelion is edible. The greens and flowers are good raw in salads or cooked like other greens. The flowers can be dried and roots slow roasted for use as tea. It's considered a superfood that you can buy at Whole Foods for $3.99/pound. But it literally grows everywhere for free and is treated as a weed by most people lol.

Don't let yourselves starve, people.

it was (it still has some users, though) "coffee" here, not tea.
talking about 1950 or so... way cheaper than coffee, color and taste gave an idea of a coffee. but it was widely used (wide was the poverty)... fun fact (maybe): i don't think it could ever work, here, commercially, as "super food" 'cause is still marked as "very poor, very humble" in our memory (or something like that :P)

Interesting. I guess it has to do with how it's processed. Like chicory coffee in the deep south (of the U.S.).

Another factoid. Oftentimes, the wealthy would ignore nutrient dense foods because it was perceived as being a province of the poor.

SearchGPT is on its way!!! Pretty cool. Looks like a better version of Perplexity Search.
I used to underestimate the need for such a searching option. I used to think search via google is useful, because we are the one's doing the searching and deciding ourselves which result best matches our need/requirement.

But sometimes, I dont feel like wanting to decide which website has the info i need or if I even want to go through multiple clicks to get to the right website. I could just ask my query in the perplexity search and get a straight forward answer! It is useful!

📝
The Impact of Media Censorship: 1984 or Brave New World? - American Economic Association

Apparently, a study was conducted a few years ago that showed that if you create a lot of puzzles in Steamgifts that require searching foreign media to get the answers, the willingness to look up and obtain foreign information increases significantly compared to the general population.

In other words, warming up the Puzzle section of Steamgifts may improve the likelihood that the earth will be at peace.
(I'm generally joking, though.)😉

When making potato salad, don't overcook the potatoes. Leave them slightly firm. Never underestimate the ability of tarragon to liven up your potato creation. Also, there is such a thing as too much mayonnaise. It's not called mayonnaise salad after all.

Huh. Never been a huge fan of tarragon. I'll have to consider it. I could see it adding something to a potato salad.

I've always preferred the more vinegar and spices version of potato salad myself, over mayo potato salad.

I would be honored to get Breathedge. My son is 10 and we pass and play co-op a lot of games, and he's very into space games with exploration and breakdown/building. (He makes the most ridiculous crafty things in Kerbal Space.) This looks both interesting to me, but also for him.

I am excited for you! There's something wonderful about a new bed. Even fresh sheets are magical.

Last year, I splurged on a Cuddlledown flat sheet, pillow cases and a duvet cover. This year, I went with the same from Quince (which is actually getting softer as advertised). But the bed is huge - the base can flip over and the topper unzips to allow replacement pieces to be added - thus reducing waste in the land fill!

That's pretty cool! I think there's a mattress recycling thing around here, where mattresses get cleaned and repurposed for people with less money. There's a lot of university students.

I try for cotton sheets. It gets very hot and somewhat cold, and different nice cotton sheets seem to be good for all of it.Then just layer cozy blankets and quilts on top of a light duvet to get the right warmth for the season.

I am pretty sure that the two guys who showed up to set-up the new mattress and haul the old one away, likely took home our old mattress. I was hoping I could donate it but "used" mattresses have become taboo in the last ten years.

I tried to make the old one last as long as possible with various padded coverings but it was working any more - sigh :-(

I also only buy all cotton sheets! I tend to use a light-weight down comforter in a duvet cover all year round. It does get very, very hot here in the summer and pretty cold in the winter (sometimes single digits), but the down comforter works all-year round!
