Lost a copy of GTA V to a person impersonating (Name Removed). Aliases of this user include:

First time burned in a trade using this site, it's a good reminder to me and all to be diligent about checking the trader's information. Ask for a Steamgifts profile link, and check the link in the Steamgifts profile to their Steam profile. If they don't match up, don't trade!

Removing names. I figured though that if someone were impersonating me, I'd want to know.

Then message the LostSoulVL about it, it's still against SG's rules to mention names. Don't want to be hard, but rules. Sorry.

No, that's a fair argument. I didn't know the rule, and am glad I was informed. Thanks to you both.

i am sure he knows about it already and there isn't much he can do about it either. I saw him reported this account on SteamRep like many of the user you listed it

Please file a support ticket and we will look into it. Be sure to include all proof that you have and have the ticket be as complete as possible since no one (including support members) can comment or reply to User Reports.

"Too many reports, comments disabled.", when you do a user report. Not sure when it started though

Thanks, I did file a report. I have screenshots of our Steam chat and the scammer's profile, but no method to send those. Please let me know if they would be helpful, and where to send them if so.

Some advice:
To check someone, always look him up on steamrep. Then take his steam id (the one with the numbers) and write http://www.steamgifts.com/go/user/steamid (write his steam id, not the word steamid) to find his original steamgifts profile.

Also, don't let him get away with it. If you have proof, report him on steamrep, leave him a -rep on steamgifts, and open a ticket on steam support and report him there too.

the person that scam him, is already banned on SR with like another 7-8 pending report

The more, the merrier. This way he will get banned faster, because a pending report is indifferent to a confirmed report. But still, he must also report him on steam support, so maybe steam will ban his account. Impersonators have become quite audacious nowadays. Recently, one idiot added me and told me that he's the admin of steamgifts, so I asked him: Do you think that there's anyone so fool to believe you? xD

Yeah I always check on SR first even than I don't accept random invites. This same scammer, was the same scum that scammer another user yesterday

scammers are the worst, really sucks you can't name and shame, although I understand the reason behind why you can't. Would suck if someone decided to tarnish your reputation. At the end of the day, unless you're rocking a pretty high steamrep, I would avoid trading anything above bundle games. This way you are far less likely to get ripped off. Someone with low reps is an easy target for scammers unfortunately..

ALWAYS use enhanced steam to reach other profiles than steam. never trust in anything that people say, not even their friends. only trust in what you find by yourself. credibility must be earned, not showed.

Thanks all for the advice. I reported the account on Steam, but I'm sure there's nothing stopping them from just making a new account.
