Maybe get skyrim now if you like and wait to see how The Forest comes along. I have skyrim with mods and don't play it as much as I thought I would, though games like Rust entertain me for the survival aspect (the fact that it's still alpha and new content is getting added is even better). The Forest looks like in time it'll be pretty great.

I've never liked the idea. When I load up a game I want the game to show me the dev's artistic vision for the project, not half of the ideas with "more to come".
It's like if you were going to buy a car and you see it and the windows are all busted out, 2 tires are flat, there are no headlights and the brakes work "sometimes". The dealership says "pay us full price now, and bring it back once a month and we'll fix one of the problems. Maybe."
Even if the car has potential, even if they fully intend to fix everything and are not scamming you, your impressions of the car would never be as good as if you bought a pristine, mint condition car that worked great from day one.

I will only buy The Forest if it comes with a Cure :D

From the OP:
"For those who complain about Early Access and Greenlight:
You can't trust only old, powerfull, AAA companies. We need new ones. Greenlight does a part of the job. Stop complaining about it, or make a petition to take it off Steam :|"
The complaint about Early Access is not that the games are indie or that they aren't AAA games. I gladly support many finished indie products. The problem is that the devs are charging full price for a barely finished, broken mess of a game.
The reason this is a problem is that hype and "launch week" will see most of the game's sales happen right away and slowly diminish with time. Games are like fads and most Early Access games will be "old and boring" to a vast portion of their customers well before the game is actually done. Why would anyone keep developing a game once most of the money has already been made from it?
What you often see happen is that updates slow to a crawl or the devs simply disappear/announce that they're abandoning the project.

I bought NETHER because I liked the idea, played the early, early access for a while then got bored, ive now uninstalled it and was intending going back to it when it was finished but from what ive been reading on fb and forums there might not be a player base when that happens, guess ill have to wait and see.
Guess what im trying to say is I agree with the above.

They sure did! Now that devs have carte blanche to take the money and run, it should really make people cautious about paying full price for half-products.

Unity is coolest and best engine ,on what I ever work ! ... If you dont run it and have lags you its your problem ... games on unity is best ,becose unity dont have borders ,developer can make anything ,what he want ...

Skyrim is already finished game. So Skyrim.
Don't get me wrong, The Forest will be awesome when it's done. But there will be plenty of time to get it. At this moment it's very alpha... not even the SAVE feature does work. So keep calm and enjoy Skyrim.

skyrim with survival mods is definitely better. even as a base game it rocks

How is there eve discussion?
Skyrim, 100 times Skyrim.
Besides, within a week of the Forest's release it will probably be in some 5 dollar bundle anyway. Don't be fooled by them costing similar now that they are worth similar. The one is super inflated right now and the other at a great discount.

What? Where did you learn logic?
You can't trust an AAA company? Uhmm...well we have review sites and you don't ever trust a company. You go by the game. You aren't asking to buy a company, you are asking to buy a game.
Skyrim in an established AAA title with tons of mods and content that fixes the game four times over.
Also as you yourself said we can't trust a company, never mind a game how can you trust an early alpha to become a good game? I am sure it can turn out like that but when even AAA titles fail with millions put into a game there is some risk to it.
There aren't supposed to be thousands of large companies. They still spring up to this day usually from old bigger companies that partly have staff leave to found their own. The last game company I can think of is Telltale that made it big. Also the guys who made L4D, Turtle Rock.
Indie games and internet distribution allows small companies to become big, like it or not Minecraft is probably the best example currently. Also the other hundred big indie games like Mount & Blade, Age of Wonders III (AAA title reboot funded by kickstarter), Wasteland II (old cult classic reboot funded by kickstarter), Binding of Isaac, Meatboy etc etc.

Well before you go raging as a bull you should improve your reading :/
I said you shouldn't trust ##ONLY old... ,not that you shouldn't at all.
Also, sorry for the bump but really had to make this clear

So i got some money to spend and i can't really make my mind. I love survival/horror games and open-worlds too.
After a little research i've found out The Forest runs on UNITY??? Holy crap, i hate that engine, 7 Days to Die uses it too and lags like hell >_>.
So. Skyrim or The Forest?
