How about blaming the many people using PHP scripts and taper/grease/violent/etc Monkey to farm lvls which probably induces more server load than having bots just farm 3 runs for 3 cards? I honestly don't see the problem as I have gotten on the game perfectly fine. Maybe you just need to use a better browser or not block HTML5 with whatever script blocking addon you have.
Edit: I'll have to also say that I'm sure the game was made with botting in mind. I'll like to see you manually play to at least lvl 9 if you disagree.

People idle games to get cards in a more easier way, they sell those cards and Valve makes profit. Don't worry about them ever banning card idling, it's good for them and it doesn't harm anyone.

I recently got a dvr to watch the shows I don't want to watch. I got an idler to play the games I don't want to play.. I got a self-driving car to go to the places I don't want to go.

You do know that you don't need to play game to get the card? You just need to start it.... 3 times. Immediately after starting just close it, don't waste time playing shitty clicker.

People use bots on the minigame because:
- It drops free event cards.
- Levelling up the salien gives a free Steam badge.
- Actually levelling up the alien needs enough manual clicks to give anyone carpal tunnel. Based on the XP requirements we saw, Valve seems to have deliberately made the game so the user base will automate its idling because tehre is no way in hell any sensible human being would expect 100+ hours of straight clicking to get a max-level badge. (And we do not even know how much XP the max-level badge needs, since salien level 9 is still only badge level 3 of 6).

If you'd like to start any serious discussion about this matter then we can start from how you need to put 200 hours into this game just to get to badge level 3 out of 6. You guessed it right, that's what Valve came up with. They know perfectly well that people will bot it, they made it to bot it. On top of the fact that ASF just idles card drops, it doesn't even play the game (what for, you have 10+ bot scripts already for that part).
