I've had this in my browser extensions for a while. This kind of stuff has popped up before, but I was always able to delete it. I used Revo Uninstaller to delete something called BlockTheEadso a week or two ago, but that didn't remove it.

BlockTThEAdso 1.4

(This extension is managed and cannot be removed or disabled.)

Random links embedded in forum dialog to ad sites have started popping up now. Here's a screenshot of one of them. http://puu.sh/7vRMt.png Pop up windows now come up really often now, and sometimes they end up at a Steam Greenlight page. Here's a link to one of the popups. http://puu.sh/7vRSt.jpg Also, I just found a really weird game installed onto my computer. http://puu.sh/7vRPI.jpg Any help would really be appreciated, and I'll post with any more info that I can.

get an antivirus program and see if that helps at all

I used to have McAfee but the subscription ran out, so I'm not sure if it's still active or not. I got Microsoft Security Essentials a few days ago but it hasn't really helped.

McAfee is one of the weakest and most obnoxious AV's I've ever has the misfortune of dealing with. I would recommend you strip McAfee out of your system (if you even can), and use Avast!, instead. Avast! is free and does a much better job. You can download it, here.

I was going to say go with free Avast! too. I had McAfee (paid) for a while and I swear it hardly blocked anything (before I started using Adblock a ton of junk came through those malware-infested ads that caused redirects and such). And thinking of that, Adblock's good when you don't trust a site to watch its advertisers more carefully.

Keep Malwarebytes around too for a scan when something seems off, and just for general maintenance, CCleaner's good for getting rid of junk registry files, and just junk files in general.

Sorry I don't have a specific cleaning routine for this infection. :/ I haven't run into this one before.

Avast! is so far the best free Antivirus to me, probably even better than most paid ones. I don't recommend Microsoft Security Essentials because it doesn't really have real time protection, it never warned me when I opened suspicious files.

Try download a free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware if you can. I used that, since I had malwares also, and now I dont

I'll give that one a go if there's still junk on it, thanks for the suggestion.

Just Google for a solution.

Usually, my order of fixing viruses:
-Uninstall any new suspicious programs you installed (control panel -> uninstall a program)
-Full scan with Malwarebytes Antimalware
-Full scan with Spybot Search and Destroy
-Full scan with Avast! Antivirus
-Combofix

Thanks for the program suggestions, I removed the download I think did it as soon as I looked at it, but that extension managed to slip into my browsers and it's been getting steadily worse. I'm using Malwarebytes now, so far it's detected 13 harmful things.

You can also try Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit along with their normal scanner, it may help find items that load before Windows starts. http://www.malwarebytes.org/antirootkit/

Ugh, that would drive me up the wall, can you go into chrome and delete it from the extensions list? Suprisingly enough a lot of these are actually in there and can be removed once you tell it too. Or possibly through a chrome safemode? I know firefox has a safemode bootup but I don't know too much about chrome.

I've had to delete spam extensions before but this one is locked in there. It won't let me delete it from Chrome, and even deleting the program itself didn't get rid of it. I'll see if I can look up a Chrome safemode though, thanks for your suggestion.

the game might not be part of the malware, it is a common free games that comes with alot of computers about 2-4 years ago. not too sure but ive seen it mostly on emachines/acer products. but thats just for the game it might actually have been downloaded by malware

After that always keep an antivirus and a firewall running on your windows ( the windows one ain't actually all that bad but there are way better ones ), you might also want to use firefox with some add ons like no script if you aren't already.

Try this:
If on Windows 7, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, then click Start task manager.
Go in the Processes tab, and click the Memory tab.
Scroll down and check for any suspicious process. If you find anything, right click it and click Open File Location.

I once saw a malware program called Mobogenie, and it was very hard to remove. If it's something similar, you must go into the folder, and there, delete one specific file which stops you from deleting the program. The best way to find it is by trying to delete the files one by one. Once you remove that file, there might be a second one that you have to remove before deleting the (example, .dll) files.

I think Mobogenie isn't malware. It's potenially unwanted program (PUP). I've had it once too. Installed like 3 malware removal tools to get rid of it :P

Some would argue that having to use three removal tools to get rid of it is the very definition of malware.

Try Spybot Search and Destroy. If you are handy at making registry edits, google the name of the program and try to find a list of registry changes it makes, then go into safe mode this should stop it from preventing it's own deletion or the use of an antivirus. Once this is done run your antivirus in safe mode.

had it before, took 3 minutes to notice, took 3 minutes to get rid of

it's just an adware program, get your unistaller or something (trail should be enough) and try to find programs that you haven't heard of and simply get rid of them

I know that there used to be a popular program called "LockHunter" that would tell you why a program couldn't be disabled and would try to show you what to do to disable it. Not sure if that program is updated anymore or even still exists, but I remember it helping me long ago.

Unlocker sounds like that (it's free; the "buy" option is just a donation button really), except it can also remove anything locked itself instead of telling you how to manually do it. It works with individual files rather than an entire program, however, but I imagine it may be able to put a stop to a program from running if you told it to unlock & delete related files.

It's not a substitution for real time protection. I have AV, but do an occasional scan with Trend Micro House Call to get a "second" opinion from time to time.

try HiJackThis http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/ Report of registry and file settings. Useful in detecting malware. can also remove most files, just be careful of what you remove
