It helps build popularity for the games. Why do you care? It's free.
Cry some more.

"Stick with the original purpose of the site, seriously." Yeah, totally, the person who created the site will do whatever you want, because you want it. Things change, deal with it.
You don't need to upvote their game to enter the giveaway, you don't need to upvote the game to win the game, you don't need to do shit. Do they get free advertisement? No, they are giving away hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of games. Even if they did, it's a free site, and if users are allowed to advertise their shit (aka: streams, youtube channels, etc) why shouldn't developers be allowed to advertise their games?

OP shouldn't use this site.
They set up a website to win free games, yet you complain, do us a favour and leave, there will be other 20 people who will join in your space and actually appreciate the fact that they can enter those giveaways for free

i agree with you that developers are trying to promote their games on SG for Greenlight's upvote, and that it is not really legit to give games that NOT YET to be Greenlit by Steam to be gifted. But heck,as long as they are free shits and the quantity is from hundreds to thousands, people are not on your side mate..
and i cry for humanity everytime i see a "don't join it if you don't like it" comment...

"If you don't like it, don't use it" is a poor argument in general. Most kids keep using it when then out of things to say.
Basically, one guy can develop whatever he wants or can ruin an entire game franchise or change a policy and in the end, elitists use it to make everyone shut up when people start to complain. It's just like YOLO, you can srew up whatever you want and say that.

I kind of agree. Why do developers not have to follow the rules? I still enter them in the hopes they get added to steam, and I already up vote everything on greenlight because I want more games on steam.

they want ur support,so you will get their game if they can be sold in steamstore
this is not a giveaway,it is a trade
in this case i wont join ANY of these giveaways, and i say NO to these games

Greenlight giveaways from devs do not manipulate the community. Everyone here is aware that it is an attempt to generate interest in their product on Greenlight, and either devs will find it to be successful and continue to do it, or unsuccessful, in which case the strategy will be rethought.
I understand the technical argument about the name of the site but you're being inflexible, overly rigid. The site is whatever the admins say it is, and greater latitude on massive key giveaways, which end up being beneficial for the dev (inexpensive marketing), the winning giveaway entrants (free game), and the site itself (much higher profile giveaways), outweigh your really strong feelings about the scope of the site being limited to the literal interpretation of the words of the domain it uses, or your objections based upon what arbitrary things that aren't quite Steam gifts being allowed and other things not.
These are games that have a good chance of ending up on Steam one day, and as part of trying to get the game on Steam the devs think it's prudent to give away upwards of thousands of their game to a group of people who among them include whiny, entitled sacks of flatulent wind.
Too lazy to continue my rebuttal.

15.000 beta keys are given away and they will not be transfered to retail afterwards. So developers can break rules. Either change the rules for everybody or don't make an exception for developers as this is not a site for free advertising.

Yeah I agree totally with OP, I hate free shit ! Just in general when people try to give me anything out of generosity I backhand slap them straight to the chops.

I just don't get it.
First of all, here I'll state the obvious, the site is called STEAMgifts. I thought the giveaways (and I mean actually structured giveaways that use the SteamGifts system, not random key giveaways on the forum) were supposed to be for a Steam game, aka getting it on Steam, permanently in your library.
If Desura, Origin etc giveaways aren't allowed, how come Greenlight giveaways are? Since we're doing it this way, why not add coupon giveaways, too? Hey, they're on Steam, so you can't complain! And why stop here, let's add Kickstarter giveaways, who knows, might be on Steam some day...
It's not certain that the game being given away will ever make its way to the actual Steam platform. Given that fact, you're not actually giving away a Steam game, you're giving away something that COULD be a Steam game. And look at the Bloody Trapland giveaway, it specifically states they are giving away a Desura copy, not a Steam one. Yes, IF it's published on Steam, you will get it, but if not, lol enjoy dat Desura.
I like how people comment on these giveaways "OMG, SO GENEROUS, A BILLION COPIES!". The strategy here is obvious. Upvote our game, even though you may not really like it, because there's a high chance you will get it for free and this means nothing to us, because we will get a lot more money after it's published and plus we got free advertising on SteamGifts.
I think this is a nice way to manipulate the community and it kinda sucks, in my opinion... I generally agree that more giveaways is better, but not if the malicious intentions are so transparent and blatantly obvious.
Stick with the original purpose of the site, seriously.
