So basically Africa, Asia, most of South America and Central E/SE Europe gets shafted. Damn how I hate MS, not like I was going to get their "console" but I had to get through with their Live something system enough times to get a heart attack or two. I hope they implode from the bad PR.
Edit (just venting): Just to clear it a bit. Im from slovakia so no Xbox for me too. I dont care for myself, but I can relate to those that wanted to buy the console and have fun. But you know, theres no internet here, in fact I had to write this on a paper, send it to UK and I got a friend who put this up here. (still venting) Theres some electricity but only for 2hrs a day. We cant wash our clothes cause it rains a lot and the rivers are dirty. (I can hear the steam go away) Also, looking at the population I can see we arent important at all to MS, even Zimbabwe might be higher on the list (no offence to Zimbabweans I just had to name a country that sounds distant as well as is far away). Poor, poor MS, I pity Steve Ballmer, he really sucks at his position and MS does too, in a big way thanks to him.

Wow, so many! There are like 196 of them, so MS supports over 10%. What a achievements indeed. Seriously, MS are bunch of imbeciles. They probably don't support other countries because their policies would actually contradicted or break some laws in many countries, and they wouldn't sell enough in the rest to care about them.

xbone need internet and live supports 21 countries while they say it probably wont work for the rest.
PS4 doesn't need internet and PSN supports 56 countries, while you can create account as from another country if yours isn't supported.
It is so identical I can't distinguish one from another lol.
PC supported in all countries, PC master race FTW. :D

Personally I won't be getting an Xbox or a Playstation.
It's ok though. I have every confidence that enough customers will eventually bend over and take it that both consoles will still sell bazillions regardless of how draconian and illogical their DRM systems and regional restrictions turn out to be.
At the end of the day, the market usually gets what it deserves or, at the very least, what it will tolerate, softened up by some expensive, flashy advertising, the promise of sequels to all their favourite franchises, and a good dollop of KY...

Looks like I'm safe, United States is on the list.

Xbox is the most "americanized" console. If USA wasn't in the list, then that would be the most funniest launch epic fail Microsoft ever made.

I wish consoles would just... die. A world with only PC is a dream. This scenario would even solve a lot of problems. With no consoles, developers would put a lot more effort and time into the PC version, eliminating the need of $100.000 computers. There are already games being developed with weaker PC's in mind, even with integrated graphics! Consoles are the reason for more expensive games and hardware, bad performance and horrible technical improvement. DOWN WITH CONSOLES :D

Yeah, my brother is so sad mine 5 years old PC bought then for around $500-600 can't run any game. He's crushed playing "whatever new game you want".
It's consoles that actually STOPPED developers making games specifically for new GPUs, making you buy new GeForcedRadeons every Xmas...

What bothers me most is the horrible technical improvement in games. (at least in a massive scale)
The so called "next gen" consoles are having already obsolete hardware specs... and if the "next gen" lasts as long as the current gen, then we're screwed :!)
Both next gen consoles have an x86 architecture, therefore this is good news for the upcoming PC ports, but not good for the technical progress and improvement of games on PC, because they have limiting hardware already as I said earlier...
Furthermore, it was funny to watch both Microsoft and Sony on E3 to be proud and ecstatic about their new creations and how advanced and innovative hardware they have... GJ on reinventing the wheel!

it isn't about which countries gamers to satisfy, but focusing on the markets that would bring the most profits, and IMO, there's no point investing the XBox One Live service on countries that have lơ XBox One Sale. Yet, there's no statistic to back this up (hell, the XBox One isn't even on sell yet), so MS could be a nutter for doing this.

It's funny how live is available in my country for the 360, but not for the One?
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh please, there is not even most of the Europe. And they say how they wanna appeal to global market. It is useless outside of US anyway, since most of live and xbone features like TV integration and sports works only there.

Don't worry you can still watch TV without a connection on a gaming platform! It's amazing, who buys a console for gaming?

"Xbox One’s Xbox Live network will only work in certain countries at launch, according to a disclaimer on the console’s official pre-order page."
I think you missed the keyword AT LAUNCH. I am sure they add more countries later on. It is like with Steam Trading Cards... You start with the most important and add more later on if you sure everything works just fine for the most important ones...

The question is how long it will take to activate the new Live in those countries? Asia will get Xbone in late 2014 according to MS. Since most of the Central/Eastern European states had to wait for years for official MS Support for Xbox360... I'm not counting on it in 2014. 2015... maybe.

What's more hilarious is that even Witcher 3 devs won't be able to play their own game on launch day

Are you sure? I'm not. If the game activation is checking your IP... you have to use VPN as a walkaround, or you can't play.
And we still don't know if it will be using IP-checking.

Well, the main issue is buying game on marketplace or using Games on Demand. Online play is still available even if your country is not officialy supported. IF that would be different, Poland would be offline from XLive for 5 years AFTER official Xbox 360 release.

Only if your boxed game doesn't require online activation (it will with Xbone) and if it doesn't check your IP (we don't know if it will)...

Have I missed anything?
I love how M$ has failed to include Japan, China, Korea, and India, among the 170 or so other countries in the world. It's a bit like they're already admitting defeat. PS3 actually recently surpassed the 360 in sales despite being harder to code for, more expensive, and having been released a year later. That means Xbox has been bottom of the heap in every generation. As if Windows 8 wasn't already enough of a failure...
Edit: I did miss some stuff :D
PS4 is backwards compatible through streaming while Don Mattrick thinks backwards compatibility is backwards thinking. He also arrogantly assumes the entire world has internet and wants the XBone connected at all times. Xbone's camera is mandatory and always-on. And the PS4 actually comes with replaceable hard drives.

Ok fair enough, but it will hopefully bomb absolutely everywhere, immediately.

Japan - yeah, MS should focus on region where they always had abyssal sales due to nationalistic pride, am I right? China - 99% games sold there are pirated. So, yeah, MS soooo dumb for pulling out of 2 regions that doesn't want them and concentrating on actually promising markets. I am sure your strategy of sending half production there to gather dust in warehouses would be so much better :P
