And well, if it's allowed, I would love some of your pawsome cat pictures!

Not sure if it will work, but as a thank you for reading this I wanted to share a clip of my cute kitties <3

I loved the first Cat Quest when I played it on the switch. Not a bad idea to get the second game in the series ^_^
Nyanya give me Naruto vibes xD Maybe I'll buy it when it's on sale.
An ohmygawd! Strikeforce Kitty looks to cute! Puzzle, adventure RPG? I'll think I'll have to buy that one :D

Careful about Strikeforce Kitty, the gameplay pretty much consists of the four kitties auto-walking their way through a platforming style levels untill they bump into an obstacle, at which point they turn around and continue the other way. You control when they jump and when they use abilities. Just so you're not disappointed ;)
I still enjoyed it though, there's tons of costumes that affect stats and it's full of fun references to movies, videogames and comics.

So.... I lost a few hours of my life looking at this picture. It's purrrfect <3
It's a facial expression that I know so well!
Timriv doesn't like it when his subjects don't give him enough attention... Or when we give attention to his brother...

Have a cute picture!
Full name: Timriv, the Enforcer
Maybe we should have picked another name, because he really tries to live up to his name...
But we really liked that card! (Yes, this magnificent creature is named after a WoWTCG card.)

(I can't seem to find how you attach a picture like you did :( )

Felix the Cat and Samurai Pizza Cats on the NES come to mind; they're both solid Platformers that look really good. If you're looking for something a bit more meditative, I'd have to recommend Gay Cats go to Weird Weird Woods I love Auntie Pixelante's sense of style, and not only is this a free game, it also has regular, Autumn, and Winter versions. It's short, but I had a great time with it.

Those NES games seem cute, I'll see if I can find them somewhere.

That's a death trap; Freya is not a friendly cat. We developed an understanding, though, so I'm the only one she likes. That and I save her from the big, scary bunny. Awwww; that reminds me of my old cat, Banjo.

That's fair; I have a love of bright colors, but that sort of aesthetic isn't for everyone.

I somehow forgot Rockin' Kats (known in Japan as New York Nyankies) that stars a 1920s blue cat fighting mobster dogs with one of those extendo-guns with a fist on the end that grants you a cool grapple/swing mechanic. It's neat, and is the only chiptune example I've ever seen of Big Band.

As a Maine Coon, she was pretty big, and when we shacked up together, my lady brought her rabbit, who was only 3 pounds; 1/5 the size of the cat. We were always terrified of them meeting, because I've had cats my whole life; they don't get along with bunnies. One day, we introduced them with a baby gate in between them. The happy little rabbit hops over to introduce herself, and the cat slinks down. We're thinking that she's ready to pounce, so I'm ready to spike this cat like a volleyball as soon as she jumps, and then we realized that her pupils aren't dilated, but tiny little slits; she's TERRIFIED.

So we take down the gate. Rabbit hops into the living room, and the cat "stealthily" follows behind to check her out. Rabbit hops away, like, "Leave me alone." Cat does it again; rabbit back-kicks her in the face, and she bolts upstairs, dives under the bed, and we don't see her for 4 hours. Over the next several years, the cat keeps trying to sneak into the pantry where the rabbit lives, and the rabbit absolutely TERRORIZES her. One time, she took a chunk out of the cat's face, and she wasn't even cornered; sometimes she's just lurch forward a bit, like, "BOO!" and send her flying.

The next rabbit we got was a little bigger, but just kind of oblivious. No real encounters there, except the one time he hopped on her back without realizing it. It was over before she'd figured out what happened, but she was pretty freaked out. Since she was Freya, we named him Ragnarok, the end of the world in Norse Mythology. Then, we got Surtur. Surtur doesn't know his name, and probably never will, because he's a Flemish Giant; we're obligated by law to call him Big Chungus. First picture is him as just a little cinnamon bunny; the second is his adolescent size, complete with same leg for size comparison. He's big enough to stand on his hind legs and look out the window.

The Cat Lady, Fran Bow and The Lost Crown are not cat themed games per se, but cats do play an important role in their stories. Apparently love towards cats is a common thing among horror point-and-click developers (still, expect a lot of cruelty towards them - because it's horror, and what can be more horrible than cruelty towards creatures we all love?).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Thank you for the suggestion and for the information. I will not look them up since that doesn't sound like something that I would enjoy.
Cruelty towards certain people in games is something I can stomach, but innocent creatures isn't. But maybe some other people who read this thread would enjoy those games. Thank you for sharing!

Disclaimer: almost nothing is really shown in these games, just implied, otherwise I wouldn't be able to play them as well. Both in The Lost Crown and The Cat Lady we get to stop cat killers. The fate of little Fran's faithful companion is a bit on the ambiguous side though. Anyway, I hope you just don't like adventure games, otherwise you're missing some of the best representatives of the genre.

Ah yes, I'm allergic to dogs so that's why I like them a little less (but they still are cute!).
One of mine loves to headbutt when he decides he needs affection. After that I'm not able to play games for a while because he drapes himself over my arms when I'm on my computer... (no pictures because my arms are trapped)

The massages... :'-(
I just try to not feel the pain of the little pointy nails repeatedly pricking my leg or arm.
He's to cute to move him...

And I've always loved black cats, they're so mystical and witchy!
I'm lucky that a black cat chose me.
Well, I'm also lucky that my ginger cat chose me xD
Now I've got Halloween cats! Just need to get a purrple one...

Auw, sounds painful!
I do sometimes cut the nails a bit. Timriv's (the black one) nails seem to be the sharpest.
He never breaks skin, it's mostly my skin that turns red. But you do have a point about being careful to not get an infection. I may have exaggerated a bit in my description, but I will keep your warning in mind. Thank you :-)

Also, I never touch cats that I don't know. They could easily be spooked and hurt you when they try to defend themselves.

Cats are very perceptive, and they do communicate with each other on an other level than their communication with us humans. So I wouldn't be surprised if you are right and they can read our minds... euhm state of mind! xD

I have no additional games to mention that haven't been mentioned above, but thanks for creating this thread. I think that I am going to bookmark it just to come back and look at all the adorable--and inevitable-- cat gifs ;-)

My cat has really gotten me through this seemingly unending quarantine; she's super affectionate and thrilled at the amount of human time she's getting currently. This whole crisis would be so much worse without our pets.

Ah yes, I feel you.
I'm a cat mom. Call me crazy, but I call them my treasures and boys say things like "Now be good boys, mommy loves you!"
Yes... definitely crazy. I've always loved animals and cats particularly. I was so happy when I got my first cat for my seventh birthday (not going to say how long ago that was xD) Tijger (Tiger in english) He is gone now, but he helped me so much!
I'm an introvert and didn't really have a good school-life and he helped me get trough.

The cats that I have now (Timriv & Oliver) both have very different personalities.
Timriv is the pushy kind "give me attention!" that headbutts you for cuddles. Oliver is shy and rather get petted.
They do know when I'm feeling down or anxious and help me calm down and feel a bit happy again.
Oh and they both love nose kisses! That when I make a kissing sound and put my finger against their nose. They often push their nose against my finger before I can do it. xD

Here are a few more cute pictures (and a weird one):

That's not crazy at all. I've known since I was a child that I never wanted human children but I absolutely need my furbabies. And what a coincidence, my first cat was seven when he got me ;-) He was a surprisingly able babysitter and would sit near my crib and watch me sleep and then go running to fetch my mother if I so much as stirred or made a sound. He'd just keep meowing at her until she'd come and "check" on me (he obviously didn't understand baby monitors, haha). I've had at least one cat ever since, barring most of my time in undergraduate and grad school where my apartments usually forbid pets of any type; then I had to rely on visits to my parents' house where I could cuddle with my childhood cats.

Oh, I love empathetic animals like that. It's amazing how good they are at knowing when their people need them. My first cat was always incredibly conscious of human emotion too, and was great during times of depression. He could somehow just sense it and come find me. My current cat loves to give kitty kisses--you know, where they hold their nose right up against yours for awhile? The cat I had briefly in undergrad (technically my roommate's cat) use to lure me into the living room, demand that I lay on the floor with my hair spread out behind me and then would curl up on it and go to sleep.

Haha, what great pics :P Here's some for you

Ieuw... That's not nearly as cute as an 'igel'.
Hm... This could be fun!
Somethings that I found weird my first time in Germany:

  • Big signs in shops with the word "Geil", in dutch that means you are aroused in a sexual way xD
  • When someone that works in a shop asks something about "gucken", it sounds like the dutch "koeken" which means cookies. (I was very disappointed to not see any cookies when they asked me that.

Comment has been collapsed.

Regarding "Geil": it means the same in German, BUT over the last about 30 years it has come be also used in place of " super" or just really "good". So nowadays it the meaning hinges on the context in which "geil" is used.

Regarding "gucken": it just means to look at sth, same as "schauen". In my experience it's mostly used in spoken German and in a casual setting (such as in a shop), not so much in writing and only very rarely in a professional setting.

I saved that cookie pic straight away, thanks for it.

Haha that information makes it even more an "Ohmeowgawd!" thingy. xD
There are also words in that have a different meaning in Belgium dutch (vlaams) and Netherland dutch.
Poepen: vlaams = to have sex, dutch = number 2 on the toilet
So close and yet so far apart xD

My friends first laughed their asses of and afterwards explained to me that the shopkeeper was asking me if I was just looking around.
Schauen I would have understood... I think. I never learned any German and they did in school.

And you are very welcome for the cookies :D

I see a lot of people gave you great recommendations already. Cat games are often very action oriented or platformers, which I am not good at nowadays, but I do remember cats showing up in Dragon Age (I didn't play 2 past the first hours and not at all in Inquisition so there might be cats as well).

  1. In Origins there were DLCs with gifts/pranks and you could give Wynne a Cat Lady's Hobble-Stick that would summon a cat. Just don't do it in a battle, as all enemies attack the poor kitty (which just proves that they are the bad guys!).
  2. You can give one of your companions (Andres) a cat. And so a companion has a companion :D

And here some of my photos :D
