For Wasteland 2, we’re getting the band back together again!. Brian Fargo who Executive Produced both Wasteland and Fallout will be heading the team. Alan Pavlish and Mike Stackpole—the original game’s primary designers—are coming back to put the project together, and we’re rounding up as many of the other designers, like Ken St. Andre, as we can. On top of that, we’ll have music by Mark Morgan of Fallout 1 and 2 fame. The storyline for Wasteland 2 was written by Jason Anderson who was the co-creator of Fallout. We have also enlisted the help of the amazing concept artist, Andree Wallin to help craft the Wasteland 2 world.

I'll admit, I've never heard of Wasteland, but for some reason I am instantly tempted to donate as much as humanly possible. I can't, because I'm totally broke (I couldn't support Double Fine either q_q), but I want to give them all sorts of cash for a game I've never heard of.

Afraid I've never played the original Wasteland... so... I'd love to see that added to the first reward tier, if legally possible....

I've still yet to try the original wasteland but I do love Fallout one and two.
When I have money I will be supporting this.
Thanks for the heads up.

I think we'll be seeing more and more kickstarter game projects going up. It's a great way for developers to raise their own money, and in turn keep more of the profit.
So long as the perks for early donators stay as they are (vanity items, special packaging, art/music/etc.) I think EVERYONE should support it (the idea, not project). But if it becomes a way to milk money out of people, like DLC has become, I think (hope, really) people will be less inclined to donate for anything but the bottom tier.

Aaaaand a 10k$ package was sold. It includes a private party with the producers and the lower-tier rewards (statue in-game, poster, figurine, your picture in the game [or with the game?], bag filled with stuff, autographed copy of the game, collector's edition, another sort of collector's edition, and of course the game plus 50 copies).

Mother of rewards...

Edit: the money goes up by the minute D: 125$ were added in like 10 seconds.

normally I'm wary of this Kickstarter nonsense

Apparently I don't need the game, I already live in a Wasteland. :(

I do have a credit card, but nether Paypal or Amazon Payments are available here. I couldn't even buy the BeMine bundle. (Steam works fine though, there's no middleman there.)

If you mean the 2005 version, it was nice. Kinda like your typical hack'n'slash, the game does include invoking creatures. The spirit of the original game was kept.

However the highest resolution is 1024x768 and so on a wide screen (got a 22 inches here) it's all blurry.

Yes that's the one I mean.I loved the original Bard's Tale when i was a kid. It's on steam for 6.99E.
Maybe i'll try it someday.

Just be cautious about not using a wide screen. It's playable, but horrible. Plus you're too zoomed in.

I've been following this since he first started talking about it on Twitter and his forums, VERY interested.
I haven't even played Wasteland, but a classic turn based party RPG by someone with as much history of quality as he does? Definitely has my money.

Here's Rock, Paper, Shotgun's interview with him.

Turn based all the way.
IMHO - Fallout 1/2 battles = much more challenging than NW battles just because of this.

Same. Turn-Based is just not good, not fun. If you have a sword, why wait for your enemy (who is deciding if he should just attack you or raise his shield) while you could simply cut his head? Come on guys... if it wasn't turn based it would be really epic.

My main concern is that Fallout 1 and 2 were just unfinished. Too many quests didn't have an end.

Hopefully in 2012 this can change. Hopefully.

Frick yes! ALL the original developers, even Stackpole (famous among Battletech fans for his books)!

I can't possibly have enough money to throw at these people.
