Time Stamps have been in unix timstamp format since I first joined. That is seconds since Jan 01 1970. (UTC)
If you mean the popups. Leave them as is. Or give an option. I like AM PM.
Its already converting to your local timezone for you. I just assumed you guys saw 24h for your zone while I saw am/pm for mine.

Why?? America is the centre of the world
And by most of the world you mean EU? Didnβt realize most of the world was there

I think the center of the world is pretty much Asia now, even though occidental countries are in denial... 3 billion people, an economy that's getting really, really decent, the world's top reserves (by like a ten-fold margin) in rare-earth minerals...
... so, does China use AM/PM or 24h time format? ππ

Both , Official time is the 24h format but no one ever speaks in 24h

The Steamgifts website doesn't speak ^^
Same here, official time is 24h. Orally we use both (no real preference I guess, we really use both), written time is almost always 24h, even for people we speak in 12am/pm format. I'd say the rare written use of 12am/pm would be encountered mostly among children and uneducated ppl.

I prefer AM/PM time as that is what I've known my entire life but I agree that it should be an option for those that prefer the use of 24hr.

I would prefer military time but I am not too fussed over it.

I'd be fine with the 24 hour clock being an option.
However the weekend is not meant to be the final part of the week. It is supposed to be the two ends of the week like bookends. Shouldn't change because some people don't like the language or because some people don't like their religion being wrong. Also it would be less noticeable and much harder to implement than the time.

its called the weekend in english because its the weeks end.
Edit: to make things clear - in the UK the weekend is the weeks end, the end of the week, the 7 day finale for each of the 52 per year, which i know it is not in other cultures / languages. but if using english, then always consider it thusly.
its much like how irony translates as sarcasm in some languages, even though it it not the same thing.
...and yes i see you're american. same philosphy applies.

+1. I guess omega got mixed up between the week-end and the week-cover ππ

If you have a bookend does that mean it can only be used on one side?
Comment has been collapsed.
yes. one side or the other.
but thats a book end, not a weekend. english is not a language of unilateral tenses or passed meanings in that regard.
now if you have a pair of book ends, then you can use them on both sides at the same time, like if you had two weekends either side of the week.

I should have done more research on international calendars before replying. So I'm sorry. Most people I know locally who want the calendar changed, want it done for stupid reasons, not for international standards.
However the modern, western concept of the weekend is a fairly recent concept. It does not apply to all of the world. Plus it is being phased out because of 24/7/365 nature of business today.
So go ahead change it if possible. It's just might be hard.
p.s. British English and American English have their differences, and I will fight you over the meaning of biscuit. =P

dont apologise. no need! and i didnt expect any research there. just saying before there was a slew of "IKR" type replies. :)
plus yeah, the latter you state is true, but... ultimately, a biscuit is a biscuit and not that thing! - theres no "american english", just americanglish! ;) (yes ive had a couple now!)
but yeah, we can fight on that or just both (all of us) realise those things differ here n there from place to place, which i think was ultimately my point. now... im hungry! :)

actual calendar is confusing.
please substitute it with julian calendar.
would accept byzantine calendar as an option, in case of introducing that moon phases modify winning odds.

I had no idea it was such an issue. In my work I do notice that less numerically inclined people (and some others) do tend to get confused about the start of a new day, but I'm fluent in either system.

I real have to ask and don't feel offended folks... are some people realy unable to use 12hr and 24hr formats...? I mean AM/PM is learned in 2 seconds... even transfering 16h into 4h should be more than easy, im a little bit shocked... :P
I dont get it... is it realy that hard for some people...? never thought that would be a thing... but i learn every day new things about people... last week i learned that there are no tickets in many countries because most police man cant write...
EDIT: maybe someone with good scripting knowledge can make this possible, shouldnt be that hard...

Personally, I find that I often forget to check whether it's AM or PM, because I'm used to 24-hour time. It's less that I don't know how to handle it and more that it's easy to forget that you're dealing with that when you're speaking 24-hour time at all times. But this is me; I can't speak for everyone. :)

Hmm ok... im from germany with 24h clocks... but i think it maybe easier for us because we say 4 oclock instead of 16 oclock... we speak the 12h clock but read the 24h clock... :P
and in case of confussness we ask "in the morning?", "at evening/night?"

I think a factor is that SG is precisely one of those situations where it can be confusing. Any time that would normally be weird (think 3 AM) is just as valid a time for anything here. :) In fact it probably can cause confusion to people who use exclusively the 12-hour clock, too, because, with all due respect to the night owls, our brains are just not wired to recognize "in the dead of the night" as a time for anything daily-life to take place.

I support 24-hour time. I'm used to not having to deal with it when dealing with time stamps, and I've lost count of how many times I had to double-check the time stamp to see whether it was AM or PM as a result. I simply don't see it there.
I also support having an option to swap the time remaining or past (X days remaining / X hours ago) in text and time stamp in the mouseover tooltip, so that the time stamp is in the text and the time remaining in the tooltip.
And above all, I support having these things as options, so that people who prefer things how they are don't have to be annoyed by the changes.

Most of the world does use military time (00:00 > 23:59), would be good if we could choose our preferred time format in settings.
Right now it is confusing to set up start/end time for a giveaway as it is AM/PM.
UPD: As stated in comments, being able to set start of the week as Monday (not Sunday) would be nice.
