If I buy Dishonored DLC will the game have to update or does it unlock game files?

I was thinking big / meaty DLCs like missions or 3d environments, not small 2d skins or the like. Should have expanded a bit, sorry.

DLC files need to be downloaded (except for some launch day DLCs).

unless they did a very bad thing and locked "on disk" content away from you it should have to download files to add dlc

I own it and it downloads. The Dunwall City Trials DLC is garbage, i wouldn't bother with it. Knife of Dunwall is great, however.

I'd say that since the Sumer Sale is in a month or so, it would be better to wait as it might get a 66% or 75% promo.
Unless he really wants to play it.
