Fallout series is really good, though very similar to Elder Scrolls. I am currently enjoying Dark Souls with 300 hours played on ps3, it has the exploration and replayability. But you will not like it if you cannot copy with dying over and over again.

Age of Wonders III.
The campaigns are long with additional DLC and community made campaigns.

Final Fantasy XII on the PS2, it's enormous, story can be completed around lvl 40 but there's enough content (and new area's secrets, weapons, sidequests and bosses) to keep you happy till you're lvl 100.

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. While it's not exactly a huge world, it does have a lot of stuff to explore. There's people who took 20+ hours on just one of the 5 total chapters in that game just because they had so much fun going around and talking to all the NPCs. NPCs don't just change what they say after each plot event, they actually have their own stories that you can follow as you progress the main plot. So yeah, if you really explore a lot you can easily get 100+ hours from just one run of the game, and it's a fun enough game to do two playthroughs just to see how many interesting little subtle hints were tossed your way and totally missed. The game is very much praised for the detailed world building so it's likely something you'd really enjoy because that means a lot to explore and enjoy while you find out for yourself just how much thought was put into every little bit of the setting.

The plot itself is enjoyable, though it is a slow burn of a plot. In the beginning a lot of the fun is just discovering this interesting world Falcom created as the plot slowly sneaks up on you because while it seems like just a simple coming of age sort of tale there's a ton going on in the background that gets revealed slowly as the plot progresses until it all finally comes to light and then the game ends and leaves you wanting more.

Just a shame the sequel isn't out yet, it's due this year, hopefully early this year since they are working on editing and testing it now. Once that comes out you'll have more fun exploration in a game twice as long.

I'll go one stage behind from PS2 and i'll suggest the 1st PS and the Crash Bandicoot series.

  • Addictive
  • Many hours
  • Co-op
  • Extremely funny
