guys don't you think the giveaways should have a maximum of like 20-30 people? coz i see people with like 300+ giveaways entered who still havent even received a gift lol, i mean u need to be lucky for the database to choose you out of 2k entrys x)

The system that is used to pick a winner gives everyone an equal chance of winning something.
And as to limiting the amount of people allowed to enter, this site is called SteamGIFTS for a reason..

I have also seen people with over 300 entries who haven't won

Maybe Limiting is a good idea, but 20 - 30 ppl? Way too low. Say there's 100 giveaways but 35000 people. 100 * 30 = 3000 entries max.. So maybe 500 is perfect, before the users becomes 50k anyway

There should be an option for the creator when making the giveaway, to limit the number of entries. It could work like the time limit: Giveaway open for a certain amount of time and/or until it reaches a certain amount of entries.

^ That

That would only increase the number of bots you see here.

I don't understand your complaints here... It's about getting lucky, you keep entering and eventually you'll win something. Your points regenerate, spend them and you'll eventually win. Even if it takes you a month or two to win something, its a free game that you wouldn't have otherwise had.

i know but still, i still think there should be a limit of entries

I disagree, it would encourage botting to constantly be checking the site and enter giveaways for high-ticket games as soon as they're posted.

Man's got a point. Just raises the stakes that much more for us people-folk

Somehow people think everybody should win something even though there are 35k users and only 10k games have been given away. Nothing can be done to increase the odds.

I agree. You should make it so that only a few dozen people can enter each giveaway.

This would incentivize the creation of bots to automatically enter desirable giveaways before everyone else, thus giving us programming-savvy folk an extra edge. This is a good thing because if benefits me, and probably some other people, but they aren't me so I don't care about them.

(For the dense: this is a terrible terrible idea what were you thinking)

Public giveaways should never have restrictions when it comes to how many members can enter. If you come in chat, get familiar with the community, you could be invited to a number of different private groups that offer group only giveaways.

Please, that is not how the site was suppose to run. Anyone can join public giveaways because that is how it is suppose to be. It is fair to everyone, everything is random and randomness is good.

ye but think about get, getting lucky out of 2k entries lol i think there should at least by a limit like 500 or something you know

Think of how hard it would be to win a giveaway if you were not a member. Now contrast and compare that to entering a giveaway with 2000 people. Which has better odds?

Keep in mind that the orgasm you have when you win a giveaway is always multiplied by the number of entries in it.

You want to exclude people from giveaways? How DARE you sir? How DARE you

not exclude, limit the entries ! =D max 500 instead of have 2k which makes it almost impossible to get lucky :P

Only allowing 500 people is excluding hundreds of other people. Also everyone has a fair even chance, it's possible for everyone to get lucky.

What you're really saying is you want YOUR chances to improve, and you don't care if you have to exclude other people to do it. How DARE you.

i speak for myself as i speak for others, this is not only beneficial for me but for everyone.. im not the only one taking part in the giveaways and as we all know there are ppl with much more giveaways entries than me which didnt even get a chance of wining because of the amount of people that join the giveaways

Its not beneficial for everyone though, its beneficial for the first 500 people, and then horrible for the rest of the community.

You've clearly already convinced yourself that your greed is somehow a community cause that you're championing, so I doubt I can reason with you... but the system we have now is more fair for everyone than what you're proposing.

He also convinced himself that he would be one of those first 500 that enter...
I'm pretty sure the people that make this suggestion, would be the first to complain if it was actually carried out.

i wouldn't say i would be one of the 500.. if u get there before then you're in lol and ppl have more chance of winning when there's a max of 500 entries instead of 2k right? its not being greedy, im just making a point here say what i think would be beneficial for everyone in the community

Everyone has an equal opportunity when entering a raffle. If you want to enter a raffle with lower numbers, find some private raffles. They are always significantly lower so there is no excuse to limit the public.

The thing that messes with my head is that everyone has the same chance as you... so you technically have the same chance as any other person. However, the odds of you NOT winning are infinitely higher. So someone else will win, apart from you, despite the fact that you have an equal chance. Or something.

The current setup allows ANYONE to enter a public giveaway and have an EQUAL chance at winning.

What can be more fair than that?!?

its not fair for ppl with like 400 entries not to have won and ppl with 100- to have won 2-3 lol

It IS a fair setup … some people just seem "lucky" than others.

(Alas, I am not one of them but I enjoy entering giveaways nonetheless for it.)

And then there will be people who will miss out on any chance what so ever to enter contests because people will start making scripts to automatically enter any contest that is open. Which will only make things even more unfair with a smaller group winning all the contests. Right now this is fair.
