I have a user on Steamtrades who keeps harassing me , trolling my posts and accusing me all because his psychic sense is telling him that my "intentions" are to scam.

I have over 170 positive rep and no negative rep.

Is there any way to report him to a moderator for removal?

Or do trolls have free reign on Steamtrades and can harass with impunity ?

"Is there any way to report him to a moderator for removal?"

No mate, nobody cares about ST, its anarchy.
Spam, idiots, hijack, scams every day, fake reps, shitload of accounts with level 3 and 2 games on Steam whats too legit... nothing to do with it
//i have 660 rep, i can see what happens on ST nowadays. Well u can report him sure but here is many pending user reports for months, not worth report users. U cant defend yourself and here isnt any way to change it (like blacklist like here or smth), all u can do is ignore him.
If admin wont take any care about it, nothing will change current state. Implement backlist and or another functions, add admins, then maybe. I saw minimal 3 threads about ST and users added some ideas, nothing and no reaction (as far as i saw). Everyone care about SG only and some worthless CV

A shame. I have used it for a long time and never had an issue with anyone until today. This idiot keeps accusing me of having "intentions" of scamming like he's fucking psychic.... Even though my rep is high and i have no neg rep. He seems to have a hard on for me. And its a user with +50 rep himself.

Beyond weird. Oh well.

I did do a support ticket here since it was deserved but ty for the info. I'll make sure to just ignore it I guess. It won't affect my trades unless someone is stupid enough to believe his antics anyways so its fine.

Well I would gladly moderate for them. I did so before on Indiegala and some other sites years ago. But ya its fine. His comments are so ridiculous that all he is doing is tarnishing his own rep for all to see.

Sure i understand to you from side of user(s). But u need tell it to admins to do anything with it. For example i do not even understand why they deleted $100 limit, plenty of fake accounts with X games who offer GTA V or other AAA and sure wont go first. Its not about this 1 user who spam you. It need big change at all. At least add $100 back + add blacklist (ignore) and maybe some spam protection coz its totally unbelieveable, u can say 500 times u want only and only listed games on W and 30 users post u "smth here" Like WTF? You get 34 "offers" and 30 is from spamming ignorants and 4 from users who actually can read, mostly users who spam in every thread same thing like ignorants, i want bl them and they cant access my threads. If u want talk with admins about it i wish u luck to change something.

Ticket or create thread that breaking rules here on SG to pay their attention, smth about porn or piracy, i dont know lel :D
Thats too weird for us (active ST users) to see what happens and nobody cares. I would like to hear some reply from cg why its like that or why it cant be changed to better. Still some improvements about SG and ST is like "tail". I once got reply from mod but he told me thing i know already, ST is unmoderated :))
I hope mods or admins wont take it as bad thing from me or insults, its not sure, i only want to know why its not possible to chage it when SG can be changed almost every month, we only want make it better but without admins we cant do anything. Max note to bad users some rules but it wont help coz they can do anyhing they want anymore. No any power in our hands, not needed mods, but at least some community tools like is here, WL, BL etc +reg. Limit back for sure, thats main problem

Might want to try IndieGameSwap over on Reddit if the harassment gets too bad, as their mods are quite active and wouldn't let him get away with that.

Also just fyi, some changes coming to SteamTrades: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/yWGlf/steamtrades

All good I am not worried for myself since my rep is impeccable and my entire friends list is basically nothing but traders. But I worry about newbie users who don't have that recourse of rep to back them up. Anyone can just start accusing them and harassing them with impunity and that's a real shame since even without moderation , Steamtrades is still my go to place for trading and has never let me down xD

All moderators are normal users on steamtrades, so there's really nothing that we can do.

wait, there are moderators over there? last we heard there was nobody at all over there and the site is reflecting that pretty heavily from what i can tell.

He is saying they have no mod privileges there.
So you have a site that people can literally post anything they want with impunity.
Racism , porn , heck even child porn since there is absolutely no one there that can remove posts or content.
Wonder what it would take for them to realise its a legal issue at this point.

Maybe if some troll started spamming a bunch of illegal pics or videos your bosses @jatan11t would take notice.
A lawsuit or two for providing a haven for illegal activities seems it would do the trick.

oh okay, gotcha. i see. "all moderators from steamgifts are normal users on steamtrades".

yeah i agree though, it's been pretty rampant over there since the steamtrades sister site split from steamgifts. it needs to get its own mods/support badly.

lol, you seem to have the wrong impression. I don't consider the (single) admin to be "the boss" considering this is a volunteer position. But anyways, you are complaining to the wrong person.

heck even child porn

Well, you could, but I imagine the presence or lack of presence of SG moderation becomes a pretty insignificant thing once you start openly committing federal crimes- someone else is going to be handling the matter at that point, and they're going to be a lot less gracious than SG staff.

As far as the legal issues, so long as the images aren't directly hosted on SG servers and SG is based within the United States, SG isn't in any way liable for the content [>>]. Even in nations with more restrictive laws, generally the website owner isn't liable unless they refuse to take the content down- or in stricter nations, if they can be proven to have known the content existed and left it unaddressed.

A lawsuit or two for providing a haven for illegal activities seems it would do the trick.

There's a big difference between not having moderators for personal harassment, and cg ignoring you pointing out federal crimes to him.
Keep in mind also that- again, within the States- harassment through internet mediums which are not personal to you (ie, e-mail, facebook, etc) and you can easily leave, generally isn't considered a crime, nor is any harassment (even through personal mediums) which does not directly and explicitly threaten (by one jesting article, the difference between "I will rape you" and "I will rape you in the conservatory with a candlestick") you or defame your real world identity.
And even when you're being harassed explicitly and directly, as a rule law enforcement in the states simply doesn't care unless you've been contacted through a non-online medium (ie, in-person, by phone, or physical mail). While plenty of online harassment has led to real world incidents, the police in the states nevertheless generally don't consider the indirect content of online harassment a meritorious threat.

So no, as it stands, noone at all cares about that site, and when something gets posted that someone will have to care about, cg still won't have to express any concern past taking down the content once it gets brought to his attention.

tl;dr: United States internet legislation offers praiseworthy protection of freedom of speech and protection from indirect liability, but is abysmal and deeply in need of reform otherwise.

You are saying if I post a bunch of illegal videos over there , nothing will happen? It won't get removed or anything? I bet you if porn + ISIS videos start getting posted the site gets shut down fairly fast eh....

Do the owners of Steamtrades not care if they sued ?

I don't know why you're directing this question to me, as I am unqualified to answer it. I simply posted in this thread to answer your question "Is there any way to report him to a moderator for removal?".

I guess I worded my original post badly, but what I meant to say is that there are no moderators on Steamtrades.

The ONLY person with any sort of administrative or technical powers on SteamTrades is cg. Period.

If anything truly illegal were happening, then cg could take care of it, but outside of that, there is no day-to-day moderation or intervention in the goings on of the site. Period.

Clear enough?

I don't want to be "that one guy", but after some digging around trying to find this "harasser", the only notable thing I could find was you rudely accusing some random user of being a scammer when you had no evidence of it. You did end up apologizing for acting that way, and while I don't know who or what you are referring to in this thread... I can't help but feel like you may be exaggerating your claim of harassment. :P

Just my two cents.

I failed to read where he stated it wasn't for sale in his region. I apologised and helped him afterwards.

Really wish at least a mod would ban a few of the ridiculously blatant ones like this guy https://www.steamtrades.com/user/76561198297988893
I've never been scammed but this is ridiculous.
There is no repercussions at all. Almost makes me consider it if it wasn't such a scumbag thing to do.

Steamtrades has no moderators for the moment and stalkers, scammers and impersonators run rampant there and they are getting away with it without problems. :X

Yup. Maybe if Steamtrades/Steamgifts gets more exposure about it to the general public they will do something about it. Providing a Haven for scammers tends to piss people off. Gonna see if I can get some buddies to write an article about it or something. I'm thinking this just needs more exposure tbh.
