when did you won your first GA ?

I don't remember the exact time, but it was (according to my profile) the same month in which I registered or after a month. But I won it only because it was a region-restricted GA with a high number of copies.

My first public (open to all) win is from 5 months ago, and even that has a low entry number compared to others (280).

To be fair, I don't enter a lot of GAs (especially after the first 2-3 months). I don't even have 2k entries and I've been here for 9 months now.

About a week after joining the site, was kinda fast actually, guess I got lucky.

My first win was 3-4 months after registering at ~4000 entries and.... it was a DLC I already owned... '-.-
I got my first legit win soon after that like a week or two later.

First of all, welcome to SG! It's always nice to see new people around here, especially if you plan to be active on the forums!

I think I had entered around 700-800 giveaways before I won one. The game I won was from a giveaway with only 7 entrants total though, so obviously that increased my odds a lot. I'm sure that others have advised you to join groups to increase your odds of success and there are many with fairly easy requirements. Some easy options to look into include:

• Unlucky 7. A group for people who have won 7 or fewer games. You will need to have either been a member for 2 months or have created 7 giveaways of your own however.
• Playing Appreciated and/or Playing Matters. Groups for people who agree to play any wins the get within a set period (1 month for one of them and 3 for the other, I believe)

There are also some groups that get advertised on giveaway pages, usually because the creator of the group runs a curator page on steam or something similar and they want you to check out their reviews. It's pretty low maintenance and can come with some great games. Most profile's on SG are going to be set to public all the time, so you can also check out people's steam profile page to see what groups they are a part of and see some options you might be interested in joining.

Alternatively, search through these forums for either giveaways themselves (people like to giveaway on the forums with invite-only links to try and keep the bots out) or for people advertising for group recruitment. As a warning, a lot of the giveaways on the forums are level restricted so you might want to buy a cheap bundle or two to at least raise your CV to level 1. Another benefit of being active on the forums is that you might be added to people's whitelist which, if you are unfamiliar with that mechanic, is a way that SG members can offer giveaways only to people they personally select. WL giveaways are usually very small and can be a great option to increase your odds of winning.

TL;DR, the more active you are on SG and the more you give back to the community, the more likely you are to win as well. So jump in, have fun, and be patient. =)

the very first day i registered. i was in a discord group and joined his ga just for fun and forgot about it. he sent me a message on steam and only after winning did i realise that this site is worth my time xD

I won my first gib within a few weeks of joining.

I got the first GA in 18 days after registration.

Shame OP wasn't here for this GA a few years ago. :P
