When you buy a key from a storefront it's their responsibility to get you a new key, Steam and Valve have absolutely nothing to do with getting you a new one. If CDkeys told you to contact Steam the person on the customer support rep member for that site is clueless. Hopefully you get a new support rep that actually knows what they are talking about, if not you probably won't be getting a new key.

I hope that the key you bought didn't cost very much. and if it did and they don't supply you with a new key I would do a charge back if possible and never deal with them again.

Also if you could please move this topic out of "Deals" as this should be listed under "Off Topic". Thanks.

Greetings! I had a similar issue with the other platform, and I was wondered that I had to write to Steam support instead of them. At least because it's err, debt of those platforms to provide the safety & comfort referring to context of keys they offer. It's the problem of a seller \ supplier \ etc., just as Steam FAQ sais.

Now it seems that such an attitude is spreading among other websites providing the users with duplicated keys... :\

You may ask the Steam support to provide you with the date \ time of the keys being activated, and then send a screenshot of the support's reply to CDKeys' support, just as a proof that it is their fault. Wishing you all the best luck wishes on that.

I think you should ask Steam for the key's activation time, and then ask cdkeys.com for a refund or a replacement key at that time.

Yeah, I've done it a few times. They'll tell you the key was activated in 6 January 2003 or whatever.

Once someone hacked my paypal and gmail account, so he/she bought a few things from CDkeys. I realized it pretty guick so i let the support know it wasnt me. I contacted paypal as well. CDkeys revoked the keys they sell 'to me', but for a refund, i have to ask paypal. Paypal said: according to their system it was me who bought the products (becaus it was my email. ofc it was hacked, i chould see the login ip address, but it doesnt matter its my email, so it must be me. logical), so if i want a refund, i must ask it from CDkeys. We played this game for a few days, then the support of CDkeys changed their mind and give my money back.

Don't use the same password on two different important accounts, you can use the same password on most useless sites and pointless apps. Also you should use Google Authenticator for your email account, that's the most important thing to protect.

Worst shady site i ever used.

Grey markets are shady indeed - someone I know was trying to honor a GA because their own key was region locked, so they bought a key in one of these sites clearly stating it was global but came out region locked, they tried a 2nd site (cuz they felt bad for the winner -.-) and the exact same thing happened again - support took weeks to reply and return the money - but you read sometimes that they only give you store credit instead of a proper return and other issues that simply wouldn't happen in a legit site...

Not to mention the very real risk of buying stolen products by accident, among other shady origins the keys have. There is a reason why it is so cheap, after all :p
