Are you planning to return to movie theaters?
My opinion about Spectre is the same. They are pushing too hard to deepen the conspiracy. People were criticizing Quantum of Solace, but I liked it a lot, because esentially it was a classic hero chases villain movie.
P.S. How the f**k is the new Q still employed?! "I'm the chief of IT here. Our MI6 network is so secure! Let me just grab this random villain's laptop and try to decrypt it not by using a secured workstation, but by connecting it in the heart of our network. O-oh, we were hacked."

Yeah I get it, total travel to and from the movie theatre is max 1 hour for me and it's located within a shopping centre so I can go shopping before or after the movie (and there is no movie worth seeing every week :D)
And I try not to eat/drink in the cinema as it can easily triple the cost of going out :P

Oh, god, I can't even remember the last time I went to the movie theater. I mostly only went as a kid, but I had a roommate in undergrad who worked at a theater and would pass out free tickets so I went a couple of times with her. Nothing against movie theaters in particular; I just don't watch movies that much (or TV if we're being totally honest).
Thanks for the train! I hope you have happy and safe celebrations for everything you celebrate this time of year =D

I realized even before the pandemic that I didn't much care for movie theaters anymore.
In theory, they're great - watch a movie on a big screen with great sound, what's not to like?
In reality, they were somewhat disappointing - watch a movie on a scratched up screen where hopefully the defects aren't distracting, where hopefully you can get seats close enough so that the screen doesn't feel the same size as your TV, in an uncomfortable seat, with the volume set way too loud, a half hour of commercials before the movie, where hopefully the people around you aren't distracting with loud conversations or playing on their phone.
When watching a movie at home gives you much better picture quality thanks to HDR, much better and more comfortable seating, appropriate volume levels, comparable if not better audio thanks to Atmos, eliminates distracting people, lets you pause for bathroom breaks or rewind if you missed something, with no commercials, and lets you snack and drink on whatever you want without costing a fortune, why would I want to go back to a movie theater?

Yeah I think it is fair to say that I also witnessed all of your negative examples in the past, and yet, I still have the sort of unique feeling of "going to the cinemas", ever since I was a wee kid:P
Some of the best movie experiences of my life were in theatres actually, the most recent positive memory being the screening of Once upon a time in Hollywood, spoilertalk I loved how you could bite the air because of the tension it brought in preparation for the final act, which was such a collective relief, the whole crowd gave an extra layer in the chaos of all the violence
Now it might be that I am just a grumpy old dude with little empathy, but I actually like that there is no opportunity to pause or rewind for bathroom breaks and the like, I usually find it troublesome to stop the movie for any reason that was not originally intended by the creators:p Apart from that though I also agree with everything you said about watching movies at home being awesome, on the caveat that I couldn't give up movie theaters

There is a social element that cannot be replicated at home, though I think it's 50/50 on whether or not it improves the experience. One personal example that comes to mind was watching The Return of the King, where the audience all applauded as the movie faded out... then were puzzled when it faded back in again, then applauded less when it faded out a second time, then were so perplexed they barely applauded by the time it faded out for good. Another, which was more positive, was watching Les Miserable, and as almost everyone was crying at the end, one woman nearby turned to her friend - the only person not crying in the theater - and said, "How are you not crying right now? What is wrong with you?"
And while I totally understand and share your reticence of interrupting a movie to, say, go to the bathroom, I would think that as a "grumpy old dude" you would empathize with our bladders not being as resilient and compliant as they once were. :)

Yeah I guess it is up to chance on who your fellow audience members turn out to be, though so far I've had more positive experiences than bad ones. The last time I heared actual applaud was when the remastered star wars movies got a limited movie theater run (the infamous special editions), right as the blue text showed up about a galaxy far far away...:))))
I mean it is not like I do not comply to pause and rewind at home if need be (especially for bladder reasons), but at the same time I enjoy that there is no such possibility in a theater setting:))))

I really like the idea of curated lists, even though it is all bundle trash, the following do carry enough significance that I did not want to just release them separately, felt more like a package, with some additional notes on each. It also just so happens that I usually create a train around this time of the year for upcoming birthday and christmas reasons.
So there. I also added a poll, because it would be such a wasted opportunity not to, even though this year I have no particular agenda (I received tons of awesome movie recommendations last year, which I am still thankful for, even though I have not yet seen it all, but the ones I've seen were all stellar).
The train starts HERE with a very basic pit stop of SG TOOLS, checking for a few rules, then all the giveaways that follow are level 3, because reasons.
