I really like the idea of curated lists, even though it is all bundle trash, the following do carry enough significance that I did not want to just release them separately, felt more like a package, with some additional notes on each. It also just so happens that I usually create a train around this time of the year for upcoming birthday and christmas reasons.

So there. I also added a poll, because it would be such a wasted opportunity not to, even though this year I have no particular agenda (I received tons of awesome movie recommendations last year, which I am still thankful for, even though I have not yet seen it all, but the ones I've seen were all stellar).

The train starts HERE with a very basic pit stop of SG TOOLS, checking for a few rules, then all the giveaways that follow are level 3, because reasons.

Are you planning to return to movie theaters?

No. I never visited them before the pandemic either.
No. I realized during the pandemic that I am just fine without them.
Yes, as soon as they are open again.
Yes, after the pandemic is truly over.

I haven't been to the cinema lately.🎥
I can't remember what the last movie I saw.
Oh, it was a lie.😆
I feel like I barely went to see a movie in the Harry Potter series.🧙
Ideally, you should be able to go to the cinema about once a month.
If you are familiar with audio equipment and common sense, you can relax and eat delicious cucumbers (potatoes and popcorn) while sitting on a chair in the middle row from the screen.
That wouldn't be that bad.
However, from 2010 to 2020, there is some shadow of freedom of expression.
Even if it is said to be a problematic work, I hope that an environment that can be freely broadcast will come back to all of the earth.
It should have been freedom at first in every country.

I will go again when the pandemic is over.
I'm someone who goes there anywhere from 3 to 6 times a year in the last decade or so. Before that it was a lot more often... about 8-10 times a year.

The last time I've went was a decade ago and only cus one of my friends is a frequent movie theatre-goer.

I haven't been a fan of the theaters for a pretty long time now, and try to avoid them. The only time I visit them is when I am unable to back out from it and have to go along with family or my friends end up forcing me. Luckily, at least the later too have grown less fond if it now.

More stay at home movie night parties then?:)))

Not exactly. I am a big movie buff, actually not just movies but most kind of media. And I prefer seeing them at home, but alone. I dislike any kind of distractions or interruptions. Besides, I watch a lot of non-mainstream stuff too, so they aren't great to watch with others.
Though, there are indeed some kind of movies that are more fun with friends. So movie nights do happen sometimes.

They've opened for a while with limited capacity. Went to see Tenet, which became my least favorite Nolan movie. Exposition over the top even for his standards, unrelatable characters.

I am not a cinema elitist, but some films are just so much better there than on a screen at home. I don't imagine I'll be watching Dune on a monitor next year.

I guess it does depend on the home setup, if money is not a factor you can come really close to the cinema experience. Too bad they've delayed Dune a whole year :(

Same and I am really sad about it too. I hopeful, there is a cinema screening of it sometime in the future.. I would love to experience that soundtrack in a theater!

I stopped going to theaters awhile ago. While I think some movies may be better at a theater I can't remember the last time I saw a good movie at one. Usually the movie sucks. Then you think about the overpriced food and tickets, uncomfortable chairs, dirty sticky floors, crying kids or obnoxious teenagers, not being able to pause the movie to use the bathroom, etc. etc. and I don't really miss the theater experience.

I believe our experiences were very different in the past, I can't even remember the last time I had kids ruining the mood, though I do remember a specific time (it was actually many years ago on the release of The Ring 2) when a couple of drunk college students were fiddling with beer bottles the whole movie, now I just laugh about it but it was actually pretty infuriating.

Haven't been in a while even before 2020 struck. Most movies I'm interested in never make it to the big screen here and I'm not going to pay 16 bucks to watch special effect extravaganza with those crappy 3D glasses.

I will say that the newest Jumanji movie was excellent in 3D. I really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the heck out of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 3D. Those were the only 2 movies I've ever seen in 3D!

I have seen about a dozen by now because sometimes it's the only way you can see the big blockbusters here, whether you like it or not (I'm guessing the 20% increase on the ticket is why) but it never really sits well with me.
Could be because I had glasses (I had surgery so I don't need them anymore but my eyes are still sensitive) or because I sit too close to the screen. I heard from others who enjoy it that it's better if you sit in the third of the room that's furthest from the screen or your brain has a hard time processing the details.

Anyway I don't watch a lot of these movies anymore so I'm just as well watching movies at home when they're available. I can make my own (fresh) popcorn and watch at the hour that's most convenient to me, which is a plus lol

I never felt the appeal either (for the record, I also have had glasses for the past 10 years), even though I do usually sit in the farthest third or quarter of the room.
That being said, if there is a possibility to see a movie without I always choose that option. The only movie that I have seen so far which only took real actual advantage of 3D (and not just adding a bit of fake depth) was Piranha 3D, obviously that movie was not a hall of famer but at least they were creative in their shots and actions regarding the extra dimension.

Seems like they would have the perfect setup for it as well. Like the old movies that started this way back (Creature from the Black Lagoon being one of the most memorable in its use of stereoscopy).
And you're right, it's really just a matter of depth, and not 3D, most of the time. It looks like a layered flat image instead of a 3D one.

I saw Friday the 13th part III for the first time earlier this year, which would be another honorable mention for movies that used 3D creatively. Though the wikipedia page tells the story that they gave more thought to setting up the camera than they did how the actors did the scenes, it seems like a hard thing to balance all kinds of technical and personal performance in an actual shooting.

I have a friend who worked at a cinema chain in my country and he said they were really cool during the initial phases (i.e. not many layoffs), even when they were forced to introduce restrictions on the attendees and number of showings. I don't know what will happen now as currently they had to fully close down all operations.
