Do you type "Thanks" on giveaways?
I like to show giveaway creator little appreciation for making a giveaway. Call me crazy, right?

I usually say thanks because I am genuinely thankful for the creators. Also, they sometimes blacklist you if you don't thank them. Apparently, now they get pissed off at you if you DO thank them because they think you're just being a generic spammer.
Honestly, I have no idea what to do at this point. I am screwed either way - if I thank them, they get annoyed; if I don't thank them, they feel I am unappreciative. shrug

For appreciation? Because not saying thanks for the opportunity and winning is slightly rude I've felt? Because saying "fek u skreb" isnt socially acceptable in that situation? :P Take your pick m80
Edit: I mean for cases where they win, not necessarily every single one they enter.

'Cause they want to? Have ever thought about that? Some people just want to show their gratitude in a way we may not like, it doesn't automatically make it bad.
I personally don't, but if it is made in a legit way I can't see anything negative in them doing it.

If they win, sure, thank me, or don't, don't care, if you just entered the GA please either link a funny gif, say something original, or else don't comment.
Now, if you're in my whitelist, win, and don't leave a comment that actually annoys me. .

I say thanks when I win or when the game is one I really want, I recognize is expensive or is in high demand.
With so many entries to enter on everything to win something, is every giveaway supposed to have people say/spam thanks over 1000x
I have been blacklisted (probably for not saying thanks on stuff I don't win)- get real guys, and don't encourage spam-that being said I have seen people copy paste same replies on every entry-maybe its bots/scripts.

For me, it depends ...
If it's someone I know, I always say thanks, regardless.
If it's someone I don't know, I may or may not thank them on the giveaway, depending on how many comments it already has. If it only has a few, I figure my additional comment won't become another annoying spam message, but if there are already 50+ comments all saying thanks, I'll not want to spam them further. The same goes for someone who put up multiple giveaways I enter - I tend to thank them for all the giveaways on one of them to avoid spamming them. If it says "no comments" on the description ... well, that should be obvious. ;)
Winning is a different animal - I'll thank them on the giveaway and I'll also thank them on Steam if they're added.
When it comes to my own giveaways, I don't care if they comment or not, and I certainly don't hold it against them. I don't care if winners thank me, either. I'm not here for gratitude or to feel better about myself or get a pat on the back. I like sharing my love for gaming for personal reasons.

It's a if and but kind of situation. I don't, unless it seems like there's care and attention put into the giveaway, if it's just a bundle game someone decided they don't want, I won't.
I'll always say a million thank yous if I win though (and, you know, actually play the game), and I expect anyone else would do too.

I've done it a few times. I was genuinely grateful for the chance to win. I'd never do it on one that says ''no thank you's'' or similar. I wasn't aware this was a big issue here since I see so many thank-you's on basically every single giveaway I see. I only ever join wishlist GAs tho so idk. I've refrained from saying thanks or even commenting unless prompted.

Because I want and I can, because I believe that it is the polite and appropriate etiquette to follow.
If someone doesn't want comments, they can say so in their giveaway description, in which case I will not comment anything. But unless you do, I'll show my gratitude by saying a kind word for the chance at winning a great game. Fuck whoever blacklists for commenting/not commenting if they don't say it in the description first. I don't give a shit anyways because I tend to only enter giveaways from people I know here (whitelist/group).
Don't get me wrong, I totally understand if certain people don't want a spammed inbox - but unless you specify that you don't want comments, I personally think that it's a nice gesture to thanks the creator for giving away a game which they pay for so I'll always so a kind word when entering a giveaway, and add some diversity in my comments if possible (I'll usually talk about whatever the creator put in the description, if anything).
On the other hand, I really don't mind people who don't comment, although I appreciate reading comments in my giveaways. To each their own, live and let live.

Sometimes y leave a "Thanks!" (or "tahnks!" so I don't look like a bot) because I have nothing in special to say. If I know or see something in particular about the game, then I have something different to say. If not, I'm never sure. A "Thanks!" will look like a copy-pasted text, but not saying thanks also feels a bit bad.
Now when they say "no thanks needed" or something in the description, I leave a nice OST <shrugs>

I say thanks unless the creator asks not to. I try to keep it short (like "thanks" or "thank you", so if someone posts something important, you can still notice easy. I rather seem polite to those who expect a ty, even if that costs me a blacklist from those who dislike it.

i'll sometimes post some form of thanks or relevant comment on a giveaway if it's particularaly big or something that's particularaly interesting to me.
i'm not big on people who just say thanks the moment they join one of mine. but it's easy enough to just hit the read button.
i never really considered the fact they might be using an auto join script, before. that's kinda crap, right there.

When I win a game, I always say thanks.
When I discover I've been added to someone's whitelist for the first time, I always say thanks.
When the giveaway creator asks a question, I always try to answer it (although sometimes what folks ask seems a little personal and I'm not always comfortable with answering).
When I enter a giveaway that I'm particularly excited about or interested in and I have something unique and funny or witty or insightful to say, then I will comment.
I never make generic "thanks" or "thank you" comments. Those annoy the hell out of me on my giveaways, and from reading a lot of the discussions here, they do most other people as well.
