Great GA, already have the Gold Edition, so won't enter :)
About your concerns: I recently gave away a copy of Anno 1404 Gold from the German Store and SG didn't have any problems recognizing it as "Dawn Of Discovery Gold". Here's to hoping it also works the other way round ;)

It should work since they're the exact same game, but the app id's are different and I don't know how steam goes about recognizing a base game. Hopefully it works though.
