Well, its still a mountain, I think :D
Next potential place to visit actually is a volcano for us, too.
We kind of started planning atrip to Tenerife and climb the volcano there. IIRC that one was over 3000m high

I'll keep that in mind for when I visit Wales if that opportunity will come up.
Looks like an awesome place to visit, too

Technically, I haven't "climbed" a mountain. Was more "ride the cable car up, then hike back down".

first of all, thank you. this is a truly awesome work you're sharing with us.
i'm slowly following you in googlemaps, i've lost you at Gubalowka but you kinda magically re-appeared at Morskie Oko :D
that's where i'm right now, at end of 3rd day. and still admiring those silver lakes. awesome.
i'll continue to appreciate your work, maybe tomorrow (or in a few secs :P)
thanks again, Chris.
(btw, my vote was "No, haven't yet, but want to")

Thanks :)
How do you mean you lost me there ? :D We where living in a camp site in a house. We had some 20 - 30 min walk to Gubalowka. We drove up to the Morskie Oko with a van.
I think I might get in google maps exactly where we went (one of my friends had Gamini watch on him that tracked our movement). Probably going to create a bit detailed look in the map where we went. If I am successful, I could give you a look too :D

Man, those photos are gorgeous! The trees, the waterfall, the lakes, the drop. They look like something out of a fantasy.
I've never gotten to do much mountain hiking. I did do one hike as a child, though. I grew up in New England, where the mountains were worn down over the eons by glacial activity. Now they're very small, very tame climbs in general. But still beautiful. My parents took us to Mount Manadnock in New Hampshire in the thaw of spring. I... probably took it more seriously than I ought to have, haha. But we had a lot of fun. At one point I bust open a bit of hard-packed ice and snow when I heard flowing water below, and I took a few draughts of some of the freshest, cleanest, and coldest water of my life.
I wish we did more hikes together. I very well could have caught the hiking bug from there, and had a healthy outdoor activity I enjoyed. I will probably never hike another mountain now, though. I have chronic problems with my knees and ankles now, and even flat ground in short distances takes a toll on me these days. :/

Thanks :)
Sorry to hear that, but at least you had the taste when you were a kid ;)
Thanks for the mountain, gotta check it out

If you want something more challenging in the region, Mount Washington is a bit (in)famous. It's not super crazy high, but it's probably a lot more like the epic stories you hear about mountain climbing than anything else in New England. It's the tallest peak in the northeast US, and the weather is crazy up there. Obviously since I only ever did one mountain as a kid, I've never been. I have seen a number of bumper stickers from people (like my parents) who drove up there, though. :P

That driving up the mountain seems fun :D
Who knows when I'll visit US but thanks for suggestion :)

I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
I've climbed the Sugar Loaf and one of the mountains in the Tijuca Forest - An urban rainforest we have here.
The day I climbed the mountain in the day forest was pretty not what we have in mind. My friends and I were just kids and decided to go for a little adventure in nature. There are maps around the forest so it's not like we went to the wild. Our self-appointed guide really had a lot to learn at the time. We planned to go to mountain A and started our route. When we got to the next map, we realized we were far from it, so we decided to change the plan and head to mountains B (considerably closer). One map later and we realized we were far off again, and went to mountain C (which were really really close).
This was like 25 years ago and our guide got much better. He is a cinematographer which specializes in climbing videos. He just travels around, climb and films the experience. I didn't even knew people would climb active volcanoes, before he filmed it.

Well, at least you didnt get lost completely :D And that is one of getting experience as a guide :D
That sounds like a job I would love to do :( maybe someday I'll try to start documenting trips with photos or videos
About volcanoes - well, people do crazy stuff everywhere :D Im not even surprised about this

By that I meant running shoes..
Dont know why sneakers came first to mind, not native english speaker..
I had trailing boots, too. But they were quit heavy and I chose to go further with running shoes, but the sole wasnt elastic anymore, so walking on tarmac isnt comfortable..

Hey guys, been kind of lazy for several months.. Been procrastinating everything, even posting something about the trip. but here it goes along with a train from me - Level 1 - Level 4 restrictions, 4 games per level. Enjoy :) Runs until september 8, next saturday.
PICTURES ADDED AS LINKS TO SOME KEYWORDS
Im just going to go over in several words about the trip here, If anyone is interested just ask :) I will be happy to go into detail.
I am writing a little recap about the trip and will add some paragraphs in GA descriptions, as long as Im writing them anyway.
So on 22nd of June seven friends and I went on a trip with rented van to Poland, Zakopane to climb Tatra mountains. around 1100 km long road in front of us. Drive there was rather successful but tiring as we drove without rest stops. We almost got lost and ended up in Belarus (kind of illegal without visas). So the start already was adventurous
1st day - we climbed Giewont, 1985 m high and beautiful. It has a huge cross on top of it and it looks down to city of Zakopane. Weather wasnt great - it was raining at times and temperature didnt rise above 15°C. But we had fun, we where soaked wet and freezing but we where happy.
2nd day - we planned on a rest day going to Gubalowka. But we kind of missed our planned trail and went on one that is very very steep through pine forest.. Not our brightest moment, but then again - we where excited and having a launch with beer on the tourist street atop of Gubalowka was that more rewarding.
3rd day - Plan is Morskie Oko. But it has a horrible (IIFRC about 8 km long) tarmac trail to get to it. I had bad trainers on, so my feet where killing me. Morskie oko is beautiful, no other words to describe it. On the way back we split up and those who wanted went on longer but more scenic route to the Valley of The Five Lakes. Mesmerizing, just mesmerizing.. We had a launch with view, and then, on the way back, we had Tomato soup and beer in a mountain house. Beautiful waterfall and extreme trails where you almost have to crawl to get over the rock.
4th day - Was just a little walk to another lake (sorry, cant remember what it was called). But this day was most exciting - on the way back we wanted to check out caves. We either could have gone to one with guide, but we had to wait for it to begin. So we chose caves without guide. We started going in the caves expecting them to be many small caves along the trail - what we arrived at ? One long cave, where you have to crawl and at moments even go on your stomach. it was one way trail so we didnt go back. For 15 minutes we crawled through complete darkness on our knees. It was scary, I wont deny. But it was so exciting and we all where just happy beyond everything when we found the exit.
5th day - Kasprowy Wierch. Went up there with a cable car. it was suppoused to be with great views - what we got was mist so intense we didnt see the cables for the cable car. Like this we went to Świnica, which was our target of the day. But we sadly turned around because the trail started to become dangerous - with chains and open cliff (I hope its the correct term). And without seeing anything further thanks to mist half of our group got scared and we decided to turn around (one of our friends already stayed at the station atop of Kasprowy Wierch thanks to swollen ankle so this was dissapointing to us. But at least its something to plan for the future.
6th day - We went to Slovakia to go on a trail from other side of Tatra mountains. Again in front of us was long tarmac trail. Tiring and boring mountain pass, but we decided to split up again. And the trail we took further was delightful. A perfect conclusion to perfect trip :)
Along the way we met some awesome French backpackers, really cool Polish tourists who had came here with train, friendly random people along the trails. We witnessed two rescue missions on the day when we went to Morskie oko.
Anyhow - a little look at my trip turned into a big post, but maybe someone finds this interesting :) Thanks for reading if you got this far, and hope you like the GA :)
PS. I will add photos and maybe more information along the way.
