Absolutely. Just make sure you get the fixes for modern OSes, easily found on Google.

You buy it, and then you'll lose interest in the new one, I can guarantee you that. But oh, it's all because they're just too good for that new game to live up to them, really. The first one is my new all-time favourite since last year, definitely get them.

Really so the newer one isnt going to be like the older ones at all, is there a newer dev for it now then the ones that made the previous ones?

The old dev - Looking Glass Studios - long ago ceased to exist. The new owner is Eidos Montreal. None of the old crew are involved. None of the old gameplay is involved, either. The new team makes it obvious that they are drawing their inspiration from other games than the originals. If you want to prep for that game, prep with Dishonored and Assassins Creed and Tenchu. The old Thiefs are in an entirely different sub-genre.

Same studio as the Deux Ex games as well, yes?

Eidos Montreal did the Dues Ex remake, but not the originals.

Yes...and "The: Fall", if you can even call it a game...

The Thief series was/is one of the best computer games series ever made for the PC. Even today, those three games define the "stealth" genre. It says something when a game made in 1998 continues to be played regularly up 'til today. Buy the collection. If you enjoy stealth games at all, it would be worth buying even at full price ($120). Luckily, you can get the entire set for a lot cheaper than that.

They're clearly the best source out there, so it must be true!

This is true, until you play both games yourself.

The Thief series is classic.
I have not played most of them, but it is very well thought of by the people who have.

it's not worth it for me to buy since i have owned them since before steam was a thing, but if you haven't played them and it's 75% off and you have any sort of interest then definitely go for it! i really enjoyed blackjacking every single guard in each level whenever i could. even the constant reload and try again because somebody saw me was fun :)
