Looking for old game name

Hello everyone, I'm looking for name of old game my brother played when he was young.

Things he remembers about the game:
He played it on console, but no idea on which
Sidescroller (with possible elevator section), where you go linear (like contra) but has shops and big boss battles (like La Mulana)
You play as monk(?) with silver coin(?) on his forehead, from which he is shooting lasers and other stuff
Coins dissappear after time and you can shoot them to enlarge them, giving you more money on pickup
