Hi.
I've got a free SpaceChem gift in my inventory and I wanted to share it but I cannot create a giveaway for it because the game cannot be found in the SG list, and I tried typing it in different ways just to be sure.
Anything happened that had SG to remove it from the list, or is it just a bug?

I think that it was given for free some time ago (Bundle Stars giveaways if i remember correctly) and because of that it was removed from GA list.

It's too bad giveaways aren't allowed for it. If CV is 0, I don't see the harm. It's not like everyone has the game.

on the other hand free game spam... it's a pity for the people still don't have the game, yes, but i'd rather a faster sg.

Ignore giveaways for games you already have | Blacklist game

pretty useful stuff

yes, but overloaded servers can't blacklist them. oh, wait, they can. that's what they do by removing them from the game list.

The spam happens because they grant free CV.

Gameminer doesn't ban those free games but it functions just fine. It curtails the spam simply by making sure those games don't grant CV.

"Overloaded servers" isn't an excuse. It's ignoring why people spam the site with free games in the first place.

i'm pretty sure gameminer is making goddamn good money to deal with it. steamgifts doesn't have much revenue. i don't think comparing these two is accurate. and i don't want gameminer's business model implemented here just to see giveaways for free games. if you have a game you can't create a giveaway for, just drop it or do a raffle. simple as that.

1) Tons of giveaway spam.
a) Possibly overloading servers

2) Tons of support tickets.
a) Why isn't my level increasing?
b) Multiple winner reroll requests
c) Multiple winner user reports

3) Tons of people complaining

Giveaways are allowed for it though. There is nothing stopping people from dropping the key into the SG chatroom or a random thread on the board, or if it is a gift then looking at the members of SG and finding someone who actually has it wishlisted. It doesn't have to be a giveaway in the traditional sense.

Yep. I'm sure lots of people still has the free game in their inventory or as a key, but as it happened to ph34r, many has missed it, and this site could give a good opportunity for those people to get it.
It's not like getting a few "free" points out of it would ruin SG's economy or anything.

Its the mass free games that ruin the site. Before, only certain members of support could remove a title, and before they would get online, this site would crash repeatedly because it couldn't handle all the people chucking up the free games. It isn't just a 'few'.

Remember when Dota 2 was on the giveaway list?

Remember people paid tens of dollars to get it

But we just saw this with the 4 free games a couple days ago. Nothing happened to the servers.

And it's not like games that were free ages ago would flood the site.

Those games really should have been removed. Users who did lots of copies will be suspended over that.

And yes, those games will flood the site. A year after the Metro 2033 key drop, it returned. I saw plenty of giveaways, including one for 25 copies.

That's what I meant. Block it for a week or so and then unblock it.

Hell no. At least most people will dump the keys after a year. A week is nothing.

a week, a month, a year...whatever that works is ok for me, because removed forever is a bit too much

As mentioned elsewhere, they have let games return in the past, but with an extensive wait.

You would surprised how long peeps are willing to hold onto a key or game if they think they can get a big pay off at the end. It would have to be 2+ years min before you filter out most borders.

well I'm sure a flood will not happen as soon as a game is unblocked, because I'm sure those people are not checking if every blocked game is unblocked every single day, all at once. The longer you wait, the smaller the flood will be, and even better if you don't announce it.
