Let's say a multi platform game like Titanfall. Would the consoles be running it at maxed settings? How would my 7850 2GB and A8-3870k run the game?

Depends on how well they optomised the game for PC. If it's one of those stupid things that don't even give you resolution control, then yes, consoles will play it at max. If not, then no. Consoles generally try and aim for high, not highest.

Optimisation for PC shouldn't be an issue anymore as they are running on PC hardware to begin with. Only thing they can screw up would be the controls.

hmm, I think the first 1-3 years maybe but after that I'm sure that they won't play them at max. Well, I think they won't run on ultra or anything like that

This. Also, games will run @ 60 fps during the first years, but later on as the 3d graphics complexity is increasing expect to see a drop at 30 fps. That's what they did on the current gen, so the PC will be a winner as always :D

Everything depends on how good the PC ports will be. I have high hopes thought, because for the first time PC and consoles have the same x86 architecture. Therefore, no more cheap excuses from the developers about having no experience porting a game on the PC :!)
Now it's time to figure out who is a lazy bastard for sure :)

Depends. If the game is made for consoles and after that is remade for PC,then yes,the console will perform much better. Also,in the first 2 or 3 years, this consoles will be "state of the art" so games will be similar to the ones you play on PC in terms of graphics, etc, etc. After that, well, look what happend to Battlefield 3,awsome game (graphics, multiplayer, etc) on PC and verry verry bad on Xbox 360 or PS3 (max ammount of players 16 lol).

for the first 2 or 3 years next-gen consoles will use high settngs which will look similar to max settings but less taxing on the hardware

Xbox games on e3 were actually played on a decent PC with a single GPU. This is most probably because games already look better on highend PC than they do on XboxOne (which is no surprise). After a year or two they might eventually cath up when developers finally get better tools, but PC will already be one generation ahead. So I guess your Pc is good to go, maybe with a slight GPU upgrade in the future.

If they were running on PCs does that mean the PC ports would be much better than today?

BTW, Sorry for "reviving" the thread. I wanted to get more post from people and I didn't want to make another thread since it'll be the same topic.

lol have you even researched this or you just only read what someone on forum has posted? ''The Xbox One games at E3 were running on Xbox One dev kits and not high end PCs. A particular developer showing off the game Lococycle did not finish porting their game to Xbox One so they ran their games on PCs at the event.''
P.S PS 4 also ran on dev kits

So because it'll be better optimized for PC now my GPU isn't as bad? I'm worried that games will be way more graphically intensive and I will only be able to run on like medium.

no way. at the beggining they will scream about their hardware usage, probably 30% then, after about a 1-1.5 year they will trying to tell you that their hardware is in use for about 50% and so on. Bullshit.

Well, that's bullshit, I guess, but devs always slowly learn how to use console more efficiently. Compare some first PS2 or PS3 games to the last ones.

Especially comparing how games looked when ps3 and x360 came out and now. There probably isnt any pc from 8 years ago that can still run modern games

Well, right now it shouldn't be some big issue, it's x86.

Oh right, I forgot about that. I always cared mainly about gameplay anyway.
