The Great Barrier Reef Challenge!

Where: On the northeastcoast of Australia @ 19° 23′ S, 148° 42′ O
What: The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system

Interesting facts:
In November 2014, Google launched Google Underwater Street View in 3D of the Great Barrier Reef.
The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and is the world's biggest single structure made by living organisms.
The coral-spread regressed between 1985 and 2012 from 28% to 13,8% and there will be a 10% regress in the next 10 years.

GOOD LUCK on the challenge! Create for us some breath-taking masterpieces of the Great Barrier Reef for some awesome GA wins!

did you enlarge it to fit the page?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

well, it's taking up the whole page, not much I can do (also, just to be clear, I wasn't complaining about size, just commenting that it's very detailed and as such has lots of dots)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You may want to draw the lines digitally before printing it out. Might be easier. :)

Time for another 3D creation. Or more of a 2.5D.

From another angle, turning off Fog and Focus blur, and without bubbles. The "frame" is something I had to create to keep the different layers aligned with each other, because the layers were all centered to the middle otherwise.

Well, then worms will eat him alive too.

Comment has been collapsed.

Or will he eat the worms that the fish has eaten?

That's the point. At first he eats fish with worms and their eggs then worms will eat him. Eating raw fish is not very good idea.

I kind of feel like this should be animated so the colours cycle around. :)

You've really mastered the art of using that rainbow over these challenges. Every week it's more and more thought through how to place them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Thats a really good idea, but im not sure i could have pulled it off.
Thank you. I try to get the most out of Paint and that seems to require lots of colors and a bit of creativity.

Some news.

Since this is the final week of challenges we're extending the deadline by 3 days. New deadline

That also means we can have 1 week of voting, where I'm able to be there at both the start of the week and end of the week. Otherwise the voting would have ended on Xmas day when I'm not at home. We feel it's better to extend the deadline of entries than to extend the deadline of voting. More submissions is better, right?

Comment has been collapsed.

No, I just posted the Easter Island one here.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Made in time! :D

Theme is inversion:
Overly simplified to finish in time, but the fish is supposed to be the human while the human is kind of an agglomerate of marine specimen.
Water and rocks switched place too.
Would have liked to do the Easter island too but I've had not enough time :\

Since this is the last one, thanks for this event ^_^

not promising anything though, as I'll be heading to my parents' home soon for holidays =P

So it 's like the human is cemented into a block down in the water? :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The human does not exist. Those you see are two oysters with their pearls and a plant of coral =P
..and there's a fish partly hidden behind a rock :D

(I wanted to dress the fish at first but then I left it naked)
