This puzzle lacks a serious hint, it's probably solvable if you happen to bruteforce some random combination of obscure movie/game reference search, cyphering and some stuff like that.
I've been on this for hours and I just give up.

I'm just gonna throw it out there, my tinfoil hat is still on. 8k+ unsuccessful guesses from 450 people, then we get a hint that the answer is one word and literally less than 5 minutes later, 4 people and counting have solved the puzzle. I don't think so.

What if the winners are OP's alt accounts or his friends? I mean, he wasn't online for the whole weekend, now he cames back and suddenly there is 1 solver. Few minutes later he posts again and boom, more solvers. I'm not saying this giveaway is fake, but OP is a known troll/crap poster. Also there is a post somewhere here showing another puzzle he made long time ago, where there were no winners (because of a typo in one of the answers).
Not to mention the other suspicious things that have been pointed in this thread. I really hope this giveaway is legit and OP is actually giving prizes to the users, but I still think it's fake and won't waste my time on it.

That's exactly the point I'm making. He was inactive for two days, comes back and makes one post, suddenly multiple people are solving it within minutes. Take in to account the 20 seconds of downtime between each incorrect attempt, I think it's next to impossible for that many people to solve it so quickly. And as MarineSloth pointed out, none of the solvers exist on SteamGifts, nor do the more unique names exist on Steam.

Regardless of whether the puzzle is genuine or not, it seems to be have left a large number of participants frustrated, skeptical, and/or otherwise complaining. It's possible the OP's intent was to provide a rewarding puzzle, and he certainly hasn't broken any rules, but the result seems to be a negative one by and large. So even if what you say about the OP being deceitful is false, he hasn't improved the SG community through this puzzle.
