This was $69.99 a week ago, probably will get the same discount 1 week later at Christmas.I haven't used it yet, mine is just shipped. Will arrive in 2 days, but my friends are using it and they all said it was awesome.
For $69.99, I don't think you can get any better price/performance headset.
Also stay away from Kraken, I tried that on a Mediamarkt it had nothing special.Just another overpriced Razer crap, Logitech has a lot better headsets with cheaper prices.

The G930 and the G35 are basically the same, the only difference is Wireless which I'm not a fan of personally. But yeah I've heard good things about the G930 so I'll take that into consideration for the G35.
In terms of Razer, yeah usually I avoid them, but it'd be unwise to not consider them.

it would be VERY WISE to just ignore the razer crap, i tested their tiamat 7.2 a while ago...
well, all i need to tell is that i didn't get a running one after the 6th exchange -.-"
even a 10 bucks headset from the supermarket delivers better sound and microphone so i would say to hell with razer^^

I like my cheap headset :p It works just fine. But, if you have the money and want something cool... Corsair Vengeance 2100 Circumaural Wireless Dolby 7.1 Gaming Headset Official page link

I'm sorry, but your current ones are crap, I had them too for the PS3 a while ago.
Having 8 drivers built in might sound like a good thing, but two big drivers on each side, is waaaay better.
The one's I posted also work with the PS4 (dunno about the 3) so, you should be fine when upgrading to it.

Girlfriend recently bought a pair. They sound fantastic, some of the best I've used (and I've used a very large range, from $1 to $350) and they come with a very good sounding mic. Comfy, but a little tight when adjusted small - Avoidable if you have an average/above average head, clamping pressure is reduced the larger the headband. Stays tight regardless however. They are also semi-open, which means great passive noise cancellation.
It isn't compatible with the PS3 though, not without a compatible USB to 3.5mm adapter, which can get pricey for the ps3. PS4 compatibility is anything with a 3.5, as you can port audio out from your controller to 3.5mm if you desire. Hyperx clouds also come with a dual 3 poll to 4 poll adapter, so the mic on the headset is compatible with the PS4 too.

Im serious on this, if you'd go pc only, I would have recommended something else, but this true 5.1 or 7.1 is marketing blubber.
Two big good sounding drivers on each side make better sound. Also for Surround, there are virtual sourrond simulators around, which work awesome with good stereo headsets!
One comes to mind, which would eliminate all your connection problems too, as it would connect to anything.
Device is called Astro Mixamp, but is over your budget, but with it, you could connect to anything, even PS3

Go ahead and link it, I'm curious.
I do have an somewhat old soundcard that could take up the reigns for 7.1 on my PC if its 3.5mm. My Tritton has been plugged into this via Optical.
Just about everything leaves PS3 out since it only takes optical for game audio.
PS4 takes 3.5mm and USB so (hopefully) anything would work.
Yes, I do know theres the whole "Is 5.1/7.1 actually worth it" thing... In my opinion theres some stuff that I've heard in both Stereo and via the Tritton 5.1 headset, and to me, there is a major difference.
Examples being: Last of Us & MGS4 on PS3 - Battlefield 3 & a few others on PC.

That thing does the virtual surround to all stereo headsets, even in 7.1
But it's a sweet 130 dollars :/ I have an older version of this, so I urge you to read the specs again yourself, might not be compatible with older consoles now :o
Just to be on the safe side

Unfortunately yeah thats out of my price range for sure, not to mention I'd still need a headset to plug into that. That being said, down the line I can perhaps grab one of those after I get a good headset to start off.
I've been looking into the HyperX Cloud headset and its looking quite nice and has some very nice features.
I've still got some time before I make my ultimate decision so I'll keep looking and reading reviews & such.

That is excatly what I mean, with a good Headphone Amp and a good Headphone, you would have the best place to start :D
But yeah, it is out of your price range :/
Hence my refusal to post it

Also, don't get me wrong, virtual surround is great, just the Tritton one's are crappy, with these small drivers in their ear muffs.

+1 For the HyperX Cloud, I bought mine a month ago and I love them. Prior to them, I had the Steel Series Siberia, which I also liked, but I like these much more.

I have had G35 headset for a long time and i love these. Also Logitech will send you new ones if you manage to break them :D
E: Razer has poor quality (if they havent changed in couple of weeks)
Comment has been collapsed.
Logitech has very poor warranty if you buy them anywhere other than directly from logitech. It's extremely hit or miss.
Razer will back a warranty on their products from any listed retailer on their site. Their products are cheap poor quality things that break, but at least you get an unlimited free replacement for the 3? years warranty covers.

Well i had bought G700 mouse from local store 3 years ago and i dropped it accidentally from desk and it stopped working so i contacted Logitech support and they sent courier to take the old mouse back and gave me new one. Also my friends have had same kind of service.
Comment has been collapsed.
I have the exact opposite in service experience. Friend bought a G930 from Bestbuy, dropped it, headset snapped in half. Won't replace.
Another person, g930, mic came detached through wear and tear, won't replace it. Some Canadian shop, don't recall.
Another person, two g930s, one stopped working right, constant static over music/audio, SOL; Second was knocked off his desk, broke, SOL. Both of his were from Amazon, told him warranty isn't covered cause "reasons." Same guy, g35, cord snapped on the USB end, SOL again. Bestbuy on the G35 I think, bestbuy did replace though, after Logitech told him no.
Another friend, G500 mouse, started double clicking after about two months use. "Normal wear and tear, won't replace." Got a new one and the second one, same problem (used to be extremely common on logitechs mice) that one got warranty support. Both of those from Newegg iirc.
My experience, two g700 mice, first one the scroll wheel stopped tipping left, was left in a backpack for travel. Was told they won't replace it because it's not a critical failure. It sure was annoying. Second one was a gift, Amazon told me they won't replace it because I'm not the original purchaser, regardless of my receipts for it.
Regardless of that however, the G700s mouse is damn good and everyone should own it.

Just wow. I guess we have better customer support in Finland then

If you want something with great audio quality and a great mic, try the Sennheiser PC320. Amazing bang for buck, great surround because they are open-type, you only need to manually increase the bass in an equalizer to balance stuff. The microphone is so good my friends thought it was pre-recorded and mastered voice track instead of me talking. Also, when you move the mic up, it mutes automatically. I was between those and the Kingston HyperX Cloud, but the sound quality felt nicer on the Senns.

I picked up a pair of Senn earbuds for my phone and they do sound quite wonderful (even though I hate earbuds because they're uncomfortable). If those go on sale for less than 100 I'll consider them more, but for now, they're just a wee bit over what I'm willing to pay.

Hey Mate, exactly what I need :D some advices for buying a new headset. My old one (AKG GHS 1) recently made crack and is now fixed with duct tape :D
I will silently follow your Thread, cause I don't want people "spamming" in here to answer me and I also don't want to open a new one about the same topic. Hope someone can convince me, cause I really don't know which to buy.

Might be a bit OT, but could anybody suggest a good set of headphones compatible with PS3 and PC?
I keep hearing from people that Turtle Beach have good sound but quality of the hardware is garbage. Not looking for anything cheapo but nothing over $200 either

I'm in the exact same position, looking for $60-70 max too, and have been told you can't go wrong with Siberia V2's or Siberia Raw Prism. Comparing to the two to see which I'll get.

The GX-Gaming Cavimanus is good
It has 7.1 Surround Sound with High-Definition audio. It also has a vibration feature for bass which really increases the immersion, at least for me. The microphone is great quality and the headset is pretty cheap at $60. It is also compatible with pretty much all gaming systems; PC, PS3, X-Box 360, PS4, X-Box One, etc.

In my current headset the "Speedlink MEDUSA NX USB 5.1 Surround Headset" the left speaker stopped working after more than 1.5 years, even if I fix, it won't last much anyways, so I want a headset too, but I want a stereo one, with jacks, for me "surround sound 5.1/7.1" on headset is just bullshit (but for external speakers is good), because you have to configure every sound channel in every game(at least on mine it was like that, cuz of this), of course the sensation of 3D is better than stereo but it never helped me that much anyways, also it comes with an attached sound card which is normally not good specially for your budget, and USB is worse than jacks, also I like good sound quality, so I'm getting this one Audio-Technica ATH-M40x, it has no mic but I can get a cheap mic, at least I will have a headphones with excellent sound quality, and the cheap mic will be anyways better than the one I have on my current headset.
I recommend you not buying the "gaming" ones, and buy this one Audio-Technica ATH-M30x, much better sound quality than any Gaming headset for this price or more, and a 10-20$ microphone(that will be probably even better than the mic from the gaming headset at same price as the M30x). Audio-Technica-ATH-M30x, M40x, M50x have really good sound quality, reputation, reviews and really good opinions, I was checking a lot of headsets and headphones (Sennheiser, Corsair, Logitech, Steelseries, etc) before concluding to buy one of these. For example YouTube review
of course my opinion is not based only in this video.
You will be getting a good quality headphones with very good quality sound + a better than an attached mic from headsets at same price, profit?
But if sound quality is not that important to you and you want surround inmersion, which was not really useful to me, then at least get one of these: "Corsair Gaming H1500 Dolby® 7.1 Gaming Headset", "Corsair Gaming H2100 Wireless Dolby® 7.1 Gaming Headset", "Logitech G430 Surround Sound Gaming Headset with Dolby 7.1" or "Sennheiser PC 330". And avoid Razer yes, very overpriced specially thanks to Pewdiepie promoting them everytime, and not good for their price.

X-Mas is coming soon & that means more sales! I've needed a new headset for a some time so I'm going to link a few in hopes of opinions and other options. (Sorry its a bit long.)
To start off, heres my current headset:
Tritton AX Pro
Pros:
Cons:
Currently, in two locations, there are shorts. If the wire isn't in the "perfect" position I lose sound in some speakers. Not to mention I can hear the speakers physically vibrating in my headset during music with high bass... its not great.
I will admit, this one lasted a good two years which made up for having to RMA it every month to three months when I first purchased it, but, its not getting any better and warranty is long expired.
What I'm looking for:
Budget: $100 max (Preferably in the $60~70 area)
Surround Sound - 5.1/7.1 no preference.
PC & PS3/4 compatibility - (I'm mainly a PC gamer so prioritize that, I do use my PS3 on occasion and plan to get a PS4 eventually.)
Good Headphones and separate mic is an option, but I'd rather just have them together.
I enjoy having independent game and chat audio, but, I know that isn't a common feature so I'm gonna miss that more than anything.
But if theres a good Surround sound headset with that out there, let me know.
What I'm considering:
Logitech G35
Logitech G430
HyperX Cloud
Those are what I've found, technical limitations prevent any headset from using USB audio on PS3. I can keep the Tritton around for that.
To finally wind this down - Anyone have those listed headsets and can share what they think of them? Does anyone have a different headset with what I'm looking for?
Thank you for any help.
Edit:
Removed: Razer Krakens - Many recommendations against Razer Products both here and elsewhere.
Added: HyperX Cloud - Multiple recommendations for this headset.
