I personally like the feel of the used-up keyboard. It reminds me of my old Amiga, which had the whole keyboard like that :-).
It also proves that you actually do something with your computer. Sometimes I come across somebody who claims to be e.g. a developer and a single look at his keyboard can confirm if he really is or if he's faking.
Also: statistics: you can track which keys you press the most ;-).

I had my keyboard mouse combo for a year exactly and the keyboard is annoying me now. The matte finish started wearing off months ago and everytime I touch the keyboard it feels oily and greasy. It's all shiny now. It happens with all my laptops too. What kind of keyboard is not made of this material and last a long time? I like the keyboard to have grip.
