Hey guys, i'm thinking about getting wireless controller and pretty much made up my mind about buying Microsoft one just to be sure i don't need to emulate stuff and generally want easy Plug and Play. Thing is, there is few controllers with very similar price and well obvious answer should be, buy the newest one, buut i want to be sure all games work fine with it, especially older ones (i assume new games won't have problem with either controller). So do you have experience with any of those controllers? Were there games with controller support you couldn't play it with it? Which one is easier to set up with pc? Which one would you pick?

i feel so ashamed for not having a GA, please forgive me

I use Xbox one S controller with usb bluetooth but sometimes I feel some delay on commands when anything is on front of the adapter my leg for example. I don't know if it's because the quality of the adapter so I bought a new one to try.
But overall I'm very satisfied.

Wow, i didn't take this comment much in consideration, because you were only person pointing at it, but you are absolutely correct. If there is anything between bluetooth and S controller, it won't work. I'm quite shocked as this is a huge flaw, this is like infrared technology, which need devices facing each other. Why on earth does bluetooth need empty space between controller and dongle. I'm honestly lucky i have front USB, otherwise i wouldn't be able to use it at all (or i would have to turn my pc with back into room).

I use my Xbox One S controller, since I recently gotten an S (before X, and got a good deal on it) and have been using my S controller via usb and it seems to work pretty good for titles that require it like GTA.

I did though previously before I got the S, had a PS4 (I traded my old PS4, was about to die... kept getting overheating and issues with it shutting off randomly, and used its funds to pay for S) and then used my DS4 controller, but the thing I hated about it is that games didn't recognize it by default and had to use third party software to recognize it and then plus had to get used to the xbox layout again and i noticed there was input lag when using the third party software.

But as soon as I started using my xbox one S controller, haven't had any issues like I did with DS4 and the new controller is nativly supported in windows 10 and games automatically register it when I have it plugged in (I think I just had to download a driver automatically, then it was registered).

and for me it is easier to just plug it and play via USB then pay extra for a bluetooth/wireless dongle, which to me is more of a waste when I am only like two or so feet away from my PC which the USB charging cable that came with the Xbox One S is long enough for me.

Yeah i had my fair share of emulating controllers and setting them up before. I refuse to do that anymore, i always spent so much time given there were new controllers and stuff all the time. For me the plug and play function of microsoft controllers is just so convenient.

I have three Xbox 360 wireless controllers (one for the Xbox 360, two for the PC) and a recent Xbox One S one. Most of the gaming is done with the 360 controllers.

One thing I like about the 360 ones is that it's trivial to switch them off, just unclip and clip the battery box. Doesn't work with the Xbox One S controller. The One S controller does have the benefit of using Bluetooth, so no need for a dongle.
