Ah nice, good to know. I was actually more annoyed that, on the title screen when you first play the game, there's no options menu to go to, so you have to jump into the game with your display not right. I don't mind the intro scene really; I just mind that I had no choice but to watch it in a window.

Any game that takes away my control for no good reason greatly annoys me. If I want to jump around and stand on someone's head during a long-winded exposition dump, who are you to stop my fun?!
Also scripted sequences of gameplay that differ drastically from the mechanics of the bulk of the game. Why can't people develop a game in such a way that a decent set of consistent mechanics work throughout? Apparently developers would rather switch to quick time events and '1 dimensional side to side dodging while sliding down a cliff' sequences.

F*** off.

i hate all the advertising before your game even starts, for the type of audio/video codecs they use/ what engine all that.
only the unskippable ones ive seen in a few games, i have no problem with them getting credit, but... put it in the credits..

Well, the only games I can think of that actually have both pause-able and skippable cutscenes are the Assassin's Creed games... except when you "skip" on them you get slapped with a loading screen that itself can last several seconds... it's a step in the right direction, but still needs work. ^_^

MANY things. Unskippable cutscenes, as well as long BORING ones. Long cutscenes themselves don't annoy me, though. Slow movement in big areas. Horndog events.

Horndog. As in... Well, a lot of sex scenes. I could be hypocritical because I like Mass Effect, but it didn't force the sex scenes.
EDIT: Well, a lot of games tend to have sex scenes, from what I've seen. 18+ games, I suppose.

When the main character isn't an elephant and I have to boycott it because of Elephant equality in video games. I'm looking at you GTA!

inability to redefine controls, unskipable cutscenes, poor UI, unbalanced gameplay, frustrating difficulty, bad camera angles, 3rd person shooters with the character blocking your vision... to name a few

Poor FOV
Escort missions.
Most DLC
Regenerating health
Bad DRM

Random-difficulty mechanics. I can get how in SOME games it can be fun or challenging, but I don't play most games for a challenge, I play most games to have fun. Random-difficulty just... Annoys the hell out of me.

I just got GRID 2 from the summer sale, and it seems great so far, but I was really annoyed that they make you watch the intro and actually get into the game before you have the ability to change any of the options. GRID 2 has a lovely intro, but you have to watch it in a crappy little window and without 2D Surround enabled, then quickly pause the moment they let you and fix your settings before the race starts. I remember Need for Speed Undercover did the same thing, where they had a lovely ocean view intro thing, but you had to watch it full screen on low graphics settings at 480p. I know it's a small complaint and that I'm a spoiled brat for mentioning it, but it's just always been a little pet peeve of mine.
What video game pet peeves do you all have?
