Still can't seem to get it given that there are two answers. Here's what I've tried:

number number
number, number
number; number
number and number
(1) number; (2) number
(1) number, (2) number
(1): number; (2): number

Solved! I got the correct answer for the quiz, but with the current wording of the question it's not asking for the answer I gave it. It should say something along the lines of "How many possible triangles can be formed using these 3 vertices."

The Q2 sounds too much familiar, I've solved similars before. But from all the math, that's what I hated the most (even tho most colleagues I had said it was the easiest). But it's level 2 so I won't even try.

About the shoes... Don't really care :P

If all the vertices are equally likely to be chosen, I know both exact fractions that give both probabilities that answer Q2 -- but they don't seem to work, at least not in the format I tried (A/B C/D). How should I format it?

Cool, thanks! Let me try again now! :D

Edit: nope, did not work either. You want the sum of the probabilities? I tried as a simple number between 0 and 1, as a percent and as a fraction... None worked.... :( :(

I go cry now in the corner.... :D

Edit 2: Great shoes.... I guess (my opinions on fashion are usually worthless).

It should be somewhat illegal to use math above elementary school for puzzles... your Q2 is the devil's work, god I suck so hard at geometry (and most kind of math too)

I got question 3 after several guesses, but even with these hints I don't have a chance of figuring out question 1 or 2, no matter how many times I try to guess. I can't see how anyone can use math to solve this. Question 1 could be any one of lots of different times, and Question 2 could be infinitesimal.

Can you tell me how exact you have the answer to on Q2. How many decimal places?

Also i'm guessing i'm using the right format but just to make sure what is the format for Q1?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No decimals for Q2, or commas etc. Just a simple number (=
andd for Q1, like this XX:XX

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

well are you sure you've phrased Q2 correctly? Surely the only way a probability can be a simple whole number is by being 1 or 0. And it's not either of those. Unless you mean it's a fraction?
edit: Also you told me the wrong format. It's X:XX. The format you said didn't work.

+1 I think the people solving this are mind-readers...in fact, I think that's what a lot of the puzzle-solving on here is about

'What song was I thinking about?" Solved!

"There may or may not be characters scattered throughout all of SG that might or might not lead you to code to an image, that when combined with 8 other images might or might not lead you to a code to a puzzle, which might contain only anime references combined with differential equations, and if you solve that you might or might not get a link to GA. Go!" Solved!

I'm going to have to make another cryptogram or something just so we have puzzles to work on that have logical answers that can be reached without psychic powers.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Wells i told ya XX:XX because I didn't want to give too much of a hint. And the Q2 isn't a fraction, buts just a natural number

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Just a quote from wikipedia about probability.
"Probability is quantified as a number between 0 and 1 (where 0 indicates impossibility and 1 indicates certainty)."
Probability

That's what I don't understand. Do you instead mean the amount of times that you can get either an acute triangle or right angled triangle?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

This comment rephrases the Q2 in a better way: http://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/53PGwk0

Q2 is not actually asking you to spell out the probability, but rather the total number of unique triangles.

I think so too about Q2... 56 distinct triangles can be formed from 3 points of the vertices of a cube, but it's not the right answer, I give up for today.

And about Q3 just focus that you have 2 pairs, not 4 points... the answer is closer than you might think, read carefully

well isn't it actually wrong to discuss the answers for an ongoing puzzle? Even if the question is most likely worded in a wrong way..

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It depends on the puzzle/creator. I've seen puzzles where it specifically encouraged collaboration. He She said "don't share answers", which isn't the same as "no working together" which a lot of puzzle creators specify. Even still, it had already been established that the question was actually wrong, so I think it was fair game. Worst case, he she could have asked us to stop and delete our messages, which I certainly would have, but he she didn't.

EDIT: corrected gender (sorry) and have now removed discussion as asked
