Anyone here running The Witcher 2 on Windows 8 Pro 64 bit? Does it work/run well and properly? I have a copy of Windows 8 Pro sitting in drawer that I'm going to install on my new build that will be finished at the end of this month, I got it for about 50 bucks retail due to holiday sales, However The Witcher 2 is one of my favorite titles and if it doesn't work on Windows 8, I will literally just buy Windows 7 full price.

I have the Steam version running on Windows 8 x64 and I don't have any problems with it. Didn't need to flip any compatibility mode or anything. The GOG version (we get both anyway) should be no more of a problem than the Steam one.

Shouldnt need compatibility mode at all as it works fine on Win7, it should work fine on 8. Havne't had any problems with games on windows 8 if they didnt have problems on windows 7.

I'm running The Witcher 2(purchased on steam) on Windows 8 Pro x64 and it works nicely. My only issue is that I cannot figure out how to add a Witcher 2 tile to my start screen.

Have you tried going into your Steam/Steamapps/Witcher 2 folder to find the exe to make a shortcut?

EDIT - Wait, maybe you're not talking about a desktop shortcut? Are you referring to some feature that is available in Windows 8?

The start screen is some brain dead person's idea of what a Start menu should become.

Would I need to have played witcher 1 to understand witcher 2

mmmm that's a tough one tbh, the first game does have alot of important character development but the 2nd gives you a brief recap of what you need to know at the start, i played witcher 2 before I played 1 and I don't think it hindered my enjoyment at all.

Your problem there is Windows 8 crapware, just like Vista is it a money making stepping stone created for noobies to waste money on... I suggest formatting and downgrading your OS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0fsyb-ttcw

I'm sure it would work, I haven't had a problem playing any games with Win8 so far. In fact I think I could play more games than I could using my last OS.
