I don't know what website you are talking about, but the word you are looking for is "barter". Try searching for "barter websites" and you may find what you are looking for. There are a lot of them, some are specific for certain things and others are general for trading anything. Maybe looks through some of these lists:

there was a little story about a trading website ... based on personal desires, no selling, no money involved, just simple trading based on what you wish for. Also, the trading values didn't matter too much. For example, if you own an old car that someone else wants it, you can trade it in for something from their list...like a boat, wine collection, limited edition books, etc
There were stories that people traded their homes for sailing yachts, or their whole games and gaming rigs collection for a special car like old edition Mustangs or Corvettes. It sounds absurd ... but it was real. Sadly, i don't remember that website name. Anyone of you know what i'm talking about?
