Keys have been re-activated, game simply appears in Steam library again. If you haven't dismissed the account alert with marking as it read, now you may have a broken one (empty), but that's supposed to disappear the next time Steam restarts.

I just got a popup about it a couple minutes ago. While I don't know what the exact source of the key was (I won it here), most probably it's not a single key that got revoked.

Do you want to read more? There's some related discussion in the revoked-keys topic.

  • Looks like keys from Fanatical Killer Bundle 23 are the ones that got revoked
  • The developer/publisher knows about the issue and working on it, steam topic, tweet
  • Other steam topic suggests that the publisher provides replacement keys via discord. While the discord invite itself seems to be legit, they likely ask for proof of purchase. Winners can't really provide that, GA creators can try

If you won the game:

  • Look up the GA on your won page, and preferably leave a message to its creator
  • As the giveaway is most likely at least a year old, marking it not received needs opening a support ticket, probably with category "Other". When the problem gets resolved, a GA can be marked as received any time, but at this moment you have a non-activated win.

Thanks!
Considered posting into that topic, just it's about unredeemed keys. Also, I'm not sure if there's a way to actually find it using the name of the game. Leaving this here as a signpost then.

To add to this sign post: seems like it was an accident and devs are trying to resolve it: https://x.com/ValfarisGame/status/1839007162409898279

How do you accidentally revoke thousands of Steam keys like that?

No idea. I never release a game on steam, so I don't know how those tools work. Definitely weird, but also a good reminder that we don't "own" these games.

my assumption is they tried to revoke unused keys from those times and its as simple as a checkbox to revoke used ones to.
I haven't published anything on steam so I have no idea what the tool for revoking keys and such is like.

Game's publisher is aware, and working on it.

Edit: Licences should be restored now. If it hasn't been, try contacting Big Sugar support.

I like how someone calls the devs scammers after saying they are working on fixing it lol

Entirely too many people ready to start fires--over a game they probably paid a buck for, and never played.

Just let them figure out what was likely a mistake. Set yourself a reminder to check in next week or something.

It's not good that this can happen, but cripes.

A buck or 100 Dollars, i paid a game is unfair you revoke a game...

Sure, but it seems like a mistake. And I'm willing to bet almost nobody making a stink was going to play Valfaris today.

Set a reminder in your calendar. Let the dust settle. Don't waste your own time, or clog up Steam/Fanatical/Big Sugar support with a mess of individual reports for what is a widespread issue--which they are already aware of, and seem to be fixing.

His posts are actually just rage bait to farm Steam points via Clown awards. He posted this before:

Can't believe that's a thing these days, steam should do something about it, but most likely won't happen.

Steam is glad when trolls farm Jesters.
It means people spent or used money for Awards points.

How many times didn't a dev said it was an "accident" until they figured out the backlash they got, and then figured maybe i shouldn't have done this, and then come with a fix.

Not saying it is with this case, but it happened many times in the past.

I read this comment from another person

"Something is Fishy here, Publisher posted this putting the ball in Steam's Court.
Fanatical informed me this is an issue with the publisher and they have reached out with no more information at this time. But Steam has informed me this is an issue with the developer.
It's like that spiderman meme with everybody pointing a finger at eachother."

They will figure it out. It has happened before with different publishers and they were able to fix it with Valves help one way or the other.

Yes, I think so. There's no guarantee that it will get sorted out automatically, so it's best to write a ticket and also let the GA creator know.

Mine was never revoked. I was just thinking maybe this was a good thing this happened so when the keys are replaced people may have this game on their mind and they will play it. I thought Valfaris was a very solid game. I found the sequel more enjoyable but it seems to have went under the radar and not many people have played it.

The game has now been restored to effected accounts, so everyone should have no problems with the game now. Was able to confirm it is in the library of multiple people reporting it was revoked.

Just going on the language used by the developer, I believe the answer would be yes. Here's what they said: https://steamcommunity.com/app/600130/discussions/0/4840896594185279881/?ctp=8#c4840896594186429801
