Never had to contact Steam support but from what I hear it takes them a while and the most of the times if not all the response is from an automated bot.

I asked them if a person who stole my email account which was linked to my steam account few years back can steal my steam.
The answer is: Hello,
Thank you for contacting Steam Support.
We apologize for the delay.
There is no indication that your account has been compromised or accessed by another user.
You are welcome to change your email address and password if you feel someone has your account credentials or is trying to log in without your permission.
Additionally, please see the FAQ(s) below for tips on securing your Steam account:

unless the passwards were the same or they emailed your steam password and it was in there then no. even so just change your password and you should be fine. as for steam support i have gotten responses from 2 days to over a week and normally the 1st reply is a bot reply but if you add to it a real person should reply after that. i notice around big sales they tend to be slower.

I have no problem with them, they usually respond within 4-5 days. I asked them to remove a couple of games and rubbish from my acc(like Dota2, F2P games were tied to your account at that time) they did it after asking if I'm 100% sure. Then I moved from Hungary to the UK and I asked them to change my location and wallet currency to GBP, they did that too after I sent them a scanned statement from my University that I really live in the UK.

It took them 2 months to respond to my request. Once they did so they could not have cared less about my issue. I was banned from all steam discussions because I made a thread asking if it was possible for a mod to unban me from the Payday 2 group so I could have access to in game content only available by being in said group. As far as I'm concerned Valve is a much worse company than EA and should be the champ of worst company in the world every year.

in my case it took a month. i actually forgot about since it was not a biggie... but yes, they do take their time

From my experience they are slow, can't be bothered to read what you write, like sending you copy paste responses that have nothing to do with your issue, try to pass off blame to anyone they possibly can, and are all around rubbish.

It's a general rule that if you divide the total number of buttons on your favourite controller by 2, you come up with a number that greatly exceeds the IQ of the Steam Support member(s) you are dealing with.
While this isn't always a shop stopper, it does lead to some tedious exchanges as the Support member grapples valiantly with the multi-faceted complexities of the CTRL+C / CTRL+V combo, furnishing you with a succession of totally irrelevant nuggets of information before stumbling upon anything vaguely pertinent to your situation.
Eventually the leader of the troop - the dude with the colourful arse - will be forced to intervene and bring his [marginally] superior intellect to bear on the situation. Be warned, however, that it may be a matter of weeks - possible even months - before your situation is considered so grave that said troop leader will be interrupted from the vital and thoroughly engaging task of transferring the contents of his nasal passages to the northernmost end of his digestive system, in order to deal with your ticket.
Don't get your hopes up, but good luck all the same...

Slow, horrible. Takes them about 1-2 weeks to respond with copy-pasted replies that has nothing to do with the case.

My expirience is not bad. Yeah i waited one week for response year ago, since someone wanted hijack my account, and that guy was from Nigeria lolz anyway.
My expirience is not bad, the only cons is waiting time for answer, but quick help and staff from Poland, helped me back account. Instead of EA for which they resend me from poland support to USA, and go back to poland support and use phone. WTF?
But as i said, it was year ago and recently i didin't use support.

Steam...what support?
My EA experience is instance answers and sometimes free games added to account by them.
