From a visual standpoint, new although underworld model is still prob my faves.
From a character standpoint, old. Would take a fun b-movie level adventure treasure hunting romp over some chick who cries all the time even though she can still assblast 10 guys with a shotgun with no emotional response.

Isn't Tomb Raider 2013 a prequel? So you're just asking if people like the younger Lara vs the older?

When did I disagree with it being a reboot and origin story?
And because it isn't linked to the previous games, it suddenly isn't a prequel? It's developed by the same studio and takes place during a period in Lara's life that hasn't been shown yet. Since I haven't found any information to disconnect this game from the previous titles, I'll say it's a prequel.

the curvey Lara Croft with short shorts is better then the new homeless Lara Croft

New one, women are like strawberries: younger = better.

New one, definitely. She's gorgeous and realistic at the same time.
BTW, I don't get all those comments about her being a "cry baby". Of course she is at first. She's pierced by a metal scrap and she's supossed to stay calmed? Not to mention the other bunch of event that happened to her and that would probably be a spoiler (a big one I mean) for many people. By the end of the game she's grown enough to face what she has to do. He starts hesitating and ends up with a lot of determination. She ends up as Lara Croft, the Tomb Raider (as shown when she's holding both pistols).
The "cardboard face" old Lara lacks the emotions of a normal person, even those of a really cold-hearted one. It would have been fine when the technology wasn't able to show those emotions, but not now.

It's the contrast between what the gameplay portrays and what the character portrays. The transitions that force her to act the way they do are rushed and poorly executed when it actually comes to her fighting back. Not to mention her general character is rather dull, while emotionally it works as a template, there is no real sense of a true personality. You see her as a weak girl growing into a strong one. You dont see enough of her archaeologist side which was the most fascinating part of her character, encompassing the indiana jones character of being book smart and street smart at the same time. What's there is effective, it's just nothing that makes Lara unique and ultimately enjoyable to watch.
No matter how well it's portrayed, seeing her get thrown around and beat up and then go sulk for a bit may be effective enough for emotional connection, it just doesnt feel like something that's enjoyable to watch with the rest of the game surrounding it trying to push a more action agenda, rather than a survival agenda.

In the new Tomb Raider, Lara is more Terminator, but less Indiana Jones. So, the old one.
