Cult was one of the best parts of SteamGifts and had done a ton to help get rid of scammers and fake giveaways.
The site just got a whole lot worse without him.

It really is a shame how childish and disrespectful people can get..

People were rather ingrateful to Cult given his elevated responsibilities.

Something comes to mind on how he could have conducted himself when confronted in that manner. The biggest thing about being a mod that can easily be contacted is keeping your cool.

Yes he did try. I'm not ignoring that part.

It depends on how someone reacts to an unsatisfactory or ungrateful comment. You can either take offense, lose your cool or redirect it to a retort. A lot of moderators tend to avoid such an issue by remaining aloof from the community; it was nice to know Cult wants to be social and moderate at the same time.

I didn't know him too well, but it seemed like he was really trying to get things right with the community. :< I hate it when people can't appreciate hard work.

Your math is incorrect, 3 can't be less than 3 unless the other 3 is a variable

One 3 can't be a variable unless they are both variables. Nice try.

:( I completely can understand how unappreciated/overworked/stressful a mod position can be and especially when they're interacting in the public side of it. Regardless of what happens, Cult is one of my favorite people on the site and will continue to be. YOU BETTER STILL ENTER THOSE GIVEAWAYS LIKE A SEXUAL INNUENDO CULT! :D <3

Moderate a site isn't a job, it's more like a hobby, something you do because you like/have fun. He don't get paid to have to hear shit from angry or even selfish people. From what I've seen he always try his best, a lot of people recognize it but a lot don't stop to realize he is here because he like and enjoy the community, not because he have to do it.

All I can say now is.. Cult, thanks for moderate and do your best for this community.

I doubt he's having any fun. I'd rather to think that he wants to contribute to a community, do something good.
Where do you see fun talking to a bunch of Russians with Google Translator on and going trough fifty giveaways, searching for the fake ones all day long?
Or talking to the parents of a child who won a R rated game. (I think it was cg, but still good for this topic)

Sure, it's fun to make fun of some of them, like death treats or hacking treats... But not always, it depends a lot of the current mood, so it's no fun either. Besides - you get bored of it soon enough even if you are 'in the right mood'.
So yea, that's from own experience. Have fun on your 'vocation', Cult!

I've been a forum moderator for a gaming community before, and having experienced what that was like, I don't envy Cult's "job" one bit. I can sympathize with how it feels to get hated on and misunderstood every day for a thankless "job." It takes a pretty thick skin to keep shrugging off an experience like that for an extended period of time, and those that can make great public relations executives XD

Kudos to Cult for taking steps to unbury himself from that mess with a well-deserved time out. I hope the ugliness hasn't completely overshadowed all the good people who are here as well.
