Hello. I do not talk much on the forums.. or the chat. I am looking for a new anti virus software because. This virus scanner i have takes up a decent amount of CPU i think, and it lags a game that i am currently playing, and i am looking for a better one.i cannot decide what to get, i have Microsoft Security Essentials atm

A few others have said this, but I'll second it. MSE is the least laggy antivirus you're going to get. You might want to look for other things that might be lagging your computer, because I doubt it's MSE's fault. Run ccleaner, run a defragger, and take a look at some of the other background stuff you're running before even thinking of replacing MSE. Every other scanner I've tried in the last few years had slowed down my machine significantly, but MSE seems to be lag-free.

Long time ago I used Kaspersky back when it was very slow. So I switched to NOD32. Been using it for a year or two. Then tried Kaspersky again, and damn, what a difference! Never going back to NOD32 again.

Been using NOD32 and ESET Smart Security 5 for about 4 years now. Latter includes gamer mode that minimizes CPU usage while running a full screen app and can be set to trigger automatically, which I think is pretty neat. Not free per se but pretty damn worth it, IMO, had zero problems with it so far.

I'm an IT professional, and at home, for free, I use Microsoft Security Essentials. You must have a legitimate (or at least a WGA-cracked) copy of Windows.

Well, it doesn't have to be your anti virus software at fault here. Have you tried other options like defragmenting?

I use Microsoft Security esentails along with comodo firewall and have malwarebytes and Super Antispyware along with spybot search and destory as backup infection cleaners.Plus MSE doesn't lag the cpu,you proably have a bunch of other crap running making it lag or your cpu is so old that it can handle much.
