But it's still stupid, you gave away game for, lets say, full price. After 3 months it's been bundled, really bad discounted and all so you lose your CV. Why?

Because someone could buy a key on that discount but argue they got the game at full price back then but held on to it. They would try to cheat the system for CV.

I know, but we all have a callendar right? Let's say yesterday was a release of some game, you bought it today for full price and decided to give away due to your good mood. GA ends after an hour so you get your CV. SG knows when you gave it away, also knows that until you gave it away there was no discounts, no bundles with that game.

Then they would also have to see what site you bought the key from. Ex: someone buys bundled game on indiegala, another didn't know it was bundled and got it full price from gmg, both are randomly generated keys so steamgifts can't tell the difference. Do both deserve the CV?

What 'bout gifts, not keys? I have never been told how did those guys who lose CV give away game, but I couldn't find it anywhere in FAQ.

Gift vs key is the same problem. 95% on gift v full price on key is the same as full price on gift v bundle key. It is a problem that can't really be fixed without getting to much of your information about your purchases. The decreasing everyones CV is the only choice. Besides that makes it turn out like it should, those who give more rise up while those who give away one big game to level up for themselves will fall.

I know it wouldn't be probably even possible to write script that uses fact someone bought game before than other, but I was wondering since some lost their CV and some didn't :P We can only assume things, probably only cg knows ^^

Except you can give all giveaways CREATED before a price drop the full value, and anything after should get the current one.

Not hard to do since SG already has a bundled/heavily discounted list with dates...

this just explain why we all have much more crappy cheaper titles around here.
this is why most of giveaway people do not motivate themselves to giveaway something good, because they will "fall" for doing it. :)

also, we all know that a lot of people here is motivated by leveling up (such as me).
this system punish much more steamgifts, with bad rats everywhere, than users itself.

I don't think it goes back and retroactively reduces your CV if a game becomes bundled for the first time. For example, I gave away The Stanley Parable the week before it was bundled and got full CV for it. When it became bundled, my CV didn't go down.

What causes its loss then? :/ I feel confused, like hella confused now.

In his case it's just a bug with the steam API.

Let's say a bundle comes out and you give away a newly bundled game. You initially get full CV for it because it's still in the system as "unbundled." Eventually the system comes out and you retroactively only get 15% of the value toward your CV.
I think there are other cases where you can lose CV, but I'm not familiar with the details and nuances.

UnEpic (0P)

0p due to Steam API bug, as JasmineMcCoy said.

If a game gets bundled after you made the giveaway, it still counts full value for your giveaway. Only change is from actual price-change on the steam store. When a game is no longer for sale, it usually drops to 0 too. The bundle-list does account for people trying to game the system though, if you buy it in a bundle but isn't yet listed on steamgifts, the discounted value does get calculated retroactively

For example: I gave away a copy of "Deus Ex GOTY" way before it was considered bundled, and once again when it was considered bundled. For those running sgtools, you can check, it gives me full value for the first one, and bundled value for the second one.

CV level gradually decreases because the base price of games decrease. While games that are added to bundles are reduced starting on the date they were bundled, all games have a chance to change value if the official price of the game drops. Let's say I give away Game X on the first of the month, and it's bundled on the fifth. I keep full CV for the game. However, when its price drops by 50% permanently at the end of the month, I lose 50% of the CV from the game because it reflects the price of the game.
