Just ask the creator of the giveaway to re-roll his giveaway, and do not use that key anywhere. No need to buy another game, this stuff happens usually, so it's not a problem

Yes, definitely. As long as it says that you already own the game, it does not get used up. Only when a game gets registered to the account does the key stop working for future purposes.

I've had that happen before. Maybe it's just bad luck on my end but the two times I've needed a re-roll ended up with my request being repeatedly ignored by the creators. One time in a mass giveaway, the creator started mass blacklisting everyone who asked for a re-roll after winning the game in another simultaneous mass giveaway and was saying on his Steam profile that he is refusing to do re-rolls and for everyone who needed them to just give the key away, something prohibited by the rules. Needless to say, people weren't very happy.
As it's already been said, best thing to do is to ask for a re-roll and absolutely DON'T use that key. Don't give it to anyone, just leave it alone and unused. Don't be surprised if you find yourself waiting for a while before support gets back to you, they are very busy and short of staff. I'm still waiting but I know people who have been waiting for years, literally.

I got blacklisted by the creator as well, but the Support has sorted it out (within less than 2 days). Quite a relief.

To avoid this in the future: when you have other wins swiftly check your entered giveaways and remove all other entries for the same game(s) as your win(s) and then got to https://www.steamgifts.com/account/profile/sync and sync your SG account.
