Ubisoft?
not all that long ago i reinstalled my computer without manually backing up my assassin's creed black flag save, because uplay is there and the only useful thing it could do is sync my save with the cloud, which it did for the the latest or maybe all of the ezio acs and also for ac3. when i started up ac4 after reinstalling though, my progress was gone. apparently they had turned off that part of uplay, so now it's just another step in exiting the game.
i'm against drm in general (even the reasonable drm that steam has built-in), but when drm is visible and in my way then i'm against it enough not to by the game. i've had uplay being down prevent me from playing single player games, and as far as i can tell there isn't an option to make the uplay launcher close itself after launching or exiting an ubisoft game. i started playing assassin's creed before i realized ubisoft liked to get in between me and the enjoyment of their games though, so as a compromise i don't buy anything from ubisoft except for assassin's creed.
ubisoft isn't the worst (that's probably ea), but they still do enough to make their games frustrating that they're not worth buying.

They've made some great games in the past but the recycle those games over and over to the point where their recent games just look like reskinned versions of the old ones and despite this they seem to be releasing their games in an unfinished state.
They have a habit of blaming their customers for their problems, calling them pirates and the like then forcing drm that makes it impossible for some people to actually play their legitimately purchased games.
Some of their side projects have been really good though. Rayman Origins/Legends are fantastic for example. Certainly far from the "generic open-world ubisoft game" formula they overuse.

I don't buy Ubisoft games anymore. That's my opinion on them. The only Ubisoft games i have now on steam are Facry 2 which does not use U(can't)play and Anno 1404 Gold which has had all it's DRM removed. I see absolutely no reason why Steam copies of their game should have their garbage Uplay DRM overlapping the damn Steam DRM except to piss off legit buyers. Pirates get through both of them on release date so it's sure as hell not to stop them. If they remove their shit DRM from other older games i might buy them on a sale eventually.
Oh and i also hate them for all the shit they've pulled with the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise over the years, but that's a longer rant and i cba to get into it.

I was curious, because people seem to have different opinions. Please bump/elaborate in a comment if you vote :)
