I remember that guy making a thread here talking about making SteamAuctions.
I honestly don't see the point of it.

It's going to last a month at its best. I hope I'm mistaken, but pfff.

I think someone said there was talks about adding it to the trio steam sites. If it's the case then I can tell that the site's icon will be a triangle. :D

They literally ripped the steamgifts/trades page design

I, for one, like the concept.
Think about it. No leachers. You have to actually contribute to win something. And, unlike CV, you lose it after bidding, and must keep giving away.

Well, they'll be given points based on time, like galagiveaways.
Quote:
Users will be given 300 BP (Bidding Points) and 1 BP an hour. They will have a 300 BP limit on their account and can only bid a certain amount of times on an item. This is to stop people spending their entire BPs on one item and making it unfair for other users to win. Each user has a certain amount that they can bid, this way it is fair for everyone.
Since no-one linked it so far: http://steamauction.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/steamauction-update-01052013.html

There's a cap. You can get over that cap by giving games. I'd say you just gain points like in Galagiveaways.
That is if they've not changed it since I last checked.

Oh, that edit makes my other answer look silly D:

They are already asking for donations. The site is not even open. There will be rewards for donations. I think it will be a galagiveaway and its best and a complete failure at its worst. Wait, those two are the same...
Also there's underage people involved in the staff AFAIK.

I think what they mean is bad users there will be blacklisted in their private giveaways here (if they make any).
Otherwise, SteamGifts and its network sites are NOT affiliated with that site.

I like this concept of Steam Auctions. I had thought that a website of this type (ebay style) would be very good. I almost see another way to trade, not to give away... (remember that win the best bid). I personally am not part of the creators, but I'm helping with the ideas that come to mind ... I am a great fan of the trades, all ways are wellcome.

The person creating the website (unless they have people other than the one who was posting) seemed pretty hopeless.
Here is the thread they created asking for feedback. I brought up some issues that they will eventually experience and received some pretty useless responses.

all the announcements were so annoying that I left the group, talk about scripting ..

That site is gearing up to be a one-stop comedy Valhalla. I, for one, cannot wait for the eagerly anticipated kick-off...

What it means is that if someone is using a Script that makes them have unlimited points or that the script is used to win all the time
The user that are using it will be banned from SA and also reported to SG ST so they know that there is scripter running around on the pages

I understand the hate we are receiving on this post so time to clear things up. What started as an idea on here ended up as a project being built by the community. We understand the previous design looked a lot like SteamGifts so we have changed it to not look like it at all, this is because we are offering a likely concept of it. We are not partnered with SG or any of the sites affiliated but we are trying to. Please understand that we are not money grabbers or what ever as we plan on making no money from the auctions. We aren't copying anybody and are trying to be unique with the ideas and feedback from the community. Sorry if we offended anyone but the first post on here was an excitement and idea and now we are serious about it and want the best experience for the community.

Like seriously, all the cool kids at school saw CG running his own project on the interwebs and made success, now everyone gets to copy that project and call it theirs, so original!
Like honestly, do we really need more sites for gifting? No we don't, steamgifts is enough and should be the only one available, i see no freaking reason to make a copy paste of this one and change a couple of things just to make something is basically the same, and it's bound to fail as i hardly see people moving from here to that website. Good luck because you will need it.

Well, we wouldn't class it 'gifting' since you will be getting something back. With the "There should be only one gifting site" paragraph, what is the fun in that? I am not saying we area a gifting site but what is wrong if there was more? It gives me people more options plus a more fun approach. When Marty Cooper invited the mobile, it didn't stop Ericsson to make a mobile phone as well with different features.

To answer your question DaBozz, the sites are not associated in any way.

Hi,
so I read about the upcoming SteamAuctions site, and they wrote this in their blog:
"If users are caught scripting, their IP will be permanently banned and will be black listed upon other website such as SteamGifts and SteamTrade."
Is it in any way associated with SteamGifts or how does this work?
Thanks for your responses!
P.S.: Nope, I won't do anything malicious.
