Thanks for the suggestion, but I have never used reddit and don't feel like creating an account just for this. It's not that important, I was just throwing it out here to try my luck.

Yeah I can understand that but its kinda like throwing it around to random people the subreddit i linked is entirely dedicated to searching for music/movies/books based on description or samples so seemed like the audience of people you wanted to hit

To me it kind of sounds like: we all have the time to grieve, we might be, such good friends, in the end.
Comment has been collapsed.
I hear "I am the ?try full gree?, we might be, special friends, in the end"
I think its a mix beat put together. Lots of looping.
Also the reminds me when we wrote lyrics, we would record a sentance, play it backwards and try to write the lyrics from that,

That is a song used in the movie Hackers, but it is not the song I am looking for. The song I am looking for just reminded me of the movie, but I already went through the entire soundtrack for the movie and did not find it there.

One part sounds like “you’re taunting me”.
Which I searched and found a song called Tears by Clean Bandit. Does that help at all? Maybe it’s a remix?
Shazam couldn’t identify it unfortunately.

Cool, I’m glad that at least it’s useful to someone xD

I looked up the lyrics for that song and it doesn't seem like it is similar. I also tried searching for "taunting me" with some other lyrics I think I heard and that didn't bring anything up either. Thanks for trying though :)

Ah well. All the best finding the song!
I get that feel when a song that I like eludes me.

lol, that's pretty funny, I never thought of trying that. Unfortunately, this is probably an old forgotten song that wouldn't even get picked up by youtube. Even if it did, I don't think they would identify the song, I think it just tells you the name of the company that claimed it and it will probably be some obscure record label. Also, I don't think anyone gets sued, they just take the video down or leave it up, put ads on it, and keep the money.
Comment has been collapsed.
In all seriousness, it could be worth a try if everything else fails. Just leave the video unlisted or private and see if the content ID picks it up. I've seen videos that feature songs and they don't get removed. It will identify the song and put the name in the description, and whoever owns the song gets the ad money from views.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, I didn't know that they added the song name in the description, I thought it just tells you the name of the company that claimed the content. I'll give it a try.
Edit: I just uploaded it in an unlisted video.

I don't know how it works, it could depend on the copyright owner. It did that with a video I uploaded to send to a friend a while back. It was video taken at an air show with music playing in the background. The video was unlisted and I didn't get any copyright notice, but it automatically stuck the song title in a link right under the video.

Even better, what if I monetize my youtube channel and claim the song as mine. Then youtube will automatically search all it's other videos for the song and put a copyright claim on each of them it finds. I bet it would find the song that way. Then I would just have to cancel the claims and unclaim the video I uploaded, however you do that.
I might create a new youtube account called "unknown songs" and use it as a tool. It would work like a better version of Shazam.

Even this and this didn't seem to find anything.
With google lyric searches also failing, I'm guessing that it's a recording from some local band that's just too obscure to be found on the internet. Trying to upload it to Youtube and see if it gets content matched is about the only other thing left that you could try.
Sorry to say but this doesn't seem likely to be solved.
But as consolation here's some songs you've probably never heard but might like.

I couldn't find the song, but thanks for the site.

I'm not sure those lyrics are even in English.
The singing reminds me of Wes Madiko, although the music really isn't his usual style.

I love 90's dance and eurodance songs, but this singer voice looks like jamiroquai. I love the "jovem pan na balada 1-09" discography, maybe i can find this song there.
If i find this song i will reply here!

I never really understood the point of that meme. I still own that album on CD from back when CDs were a thing :)

I just tried it and everything is much worse in reverse, it doesn't even sound like words anymore.

Closest thing i found was a 1986 song: Hoodoo Gurus - Good Times
https://genius.com/Hoodoo-gurus-good-times-lyrics
The good times we had we'll have again (times we had)
All the good times we had we'll have again
And again
Now, I know you'll always be my friend
'Til the end
That means more to me than anything
youtube around 1:10 https://youtu.be/JnkzRLb8R5A?t=70
Might be remixed?
edit: and the above directed to this : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southend_(band)
Australian techno group
Southend has produced local and international releases for Hoodoo Gurus / remix collaboration.
Maybe send them an email? :D

Thanks for the research. That is the closest anyone has come so far. Southend sounds like the correct music style of time period, but I haven't found the song yet. I have clicked through most of the songs on this youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpUjV-UoRw5TAD09GdEKMIA

Yeah i did that too.
Loads on spotify but i dont have an account:
https://open.spotify.com/artist/2oj4gzbXrZfuPRrLpmeRBF
their song timeline: https://www.eurokdj.com/search/eurodb.php?name=Southend
Maybe try to find them on facebook or twitter? And just ask them directly? :)
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't use spotify, facebook, or twitter. I would guess it's not them because it probably would have been a popular song and been in one of the playlists for their music. They are definitely in the right time period and style, but there are probably hundreds of artists from that time that sound similar.

Maybe you could ask an older dj, the song (remix?) sounds like something that could be a club hit at the time of release, the beat is really good.
Comment has been collapsed.
I wouldn't know who or where to ask. I don't know too much about music and know nothing about DJs. I also don't use any social media.

I remember that in the 90's there was a lot of remixes that circulated through BBS. Mostly were made by mod trackers. The music uploaded is a bit like that, looks like a mashup. Maybe https://modarchive.org/ can help.

It sounds like "I'll never (3 words) we might be, such good friends. I'll never (3 words) we might be, such good friends, in the end".
I can't make out what's stated after never but it sounds like there's 3 words.
If someone could pull that vocals from it without the music it probably would help a lot.

My interpretation of the lyrics:
[...] be time to agree, we might be such good friends in the end

There is no giveaway here. I was just wondering if anyone knows this song. Someone posted it over a year ago on watzatsong.com and I saved the page hoping someone would know it, but it was never found. It reminds me of the movie Hackers, but I already searched through the soundtrack.
I also tried searching for the lyrics which didn't help either. It's hard to understand what is being said in the beginning, then it sounds like: "we might be, such good friends, in the end".
Edit: Everyone seems to hear something different. I originally though the beginning sounded like something similar to "we all tend to agree", but agree didn't sound right. Now I think the beginning sounds like: "we all have the time to grieve" and then the rest, "we might be, such good friends, in the end"
https://www.watzatsong.com/en/name-that-tune/541734.html
If you prefer to listen on youtube, I uploaded it here. A couple users recommended trying that to see if it would get a copyright claim and name the song. I contacted the original uploader and got a longer version which I also posted to youtube. There are no extra lyrics though. longer version
Hmm, what if I monetize my youtube channel, upload the song, and then claim it as mine. Then Youtube will go through all it's other videos, search for the song, and place a copyright claim on the videos. I bet that would find the song :)
Update: The original uploader added this: "Found On An Old Home Made Audio Cassette.Probably BBC Radio 1.Other Songs On The Tape I Recognise Are From That Year."
Update 5 years later: The song has been identified on the site linked above. Here is the song if anyone ever comes across this thread again: PepeLee - 18 Wheeler - The Hours And The Times
