The textures are as ugly as the first version, there is no HD anywhere, 20 bucks is a rip off.

It's his opinion. So called "HD remakes" are mostly rip offs.

It's funny how people get butthurt about opinion of others.

I'm not even dissing it. I'm being objective. I'll probably get that too (even though I've already beaten RE IV). Just not right now because it's too expensive for a remake.

The new PC version will include everything from the prior iterations including subtitle support in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese and Polish as well as previously released bonus content such as the Separate Ways epilogue.

I imagine that won't ever happen, for the same reason the Metal Gear Solid remake won't be ported to other systems, an exclusivity contract. Gamecube was to get several exclusive games in the series, 0, Remake and 4. I'm not really certain how they convinced Nintendo to let them make 4 a multiconsole game though. Likely had to make something else for them?

There is a Wii release of the Resident Evil remake though.

Everyone should own a xbox 360 controller by this point. It is almost essential for some games. Get one naow!

I have a Razer Sabretooth now although I didn't when I played the game a long time ago. I was talking about other people. A game without Keyboard + Mouse support on PC raises a shitstorm nowadays.

Also hope they fixed the camera. I remember having to use third party software to fix that.

Or they could use a PS3 controller with the cord. But everyone should have some kind of controller. Having options is at the core of PC gaming!

Mouse is more accurate than an analog stick, but keyboard is only best for typing sims or games that require 101 buttons. Gamepads are made to be used for gaming. I'll take one over pixel perfect aim and the hand destroying features of a keyboard. *

* Some features may work differently for other users who don't have a messed up left hand, but I still stand by my opinion that gamepads are better.

As much as a controller is definitely an essential tool in a gamer's arsenal, kb+m is still the best way to play many games. I want my control scheme to be determined by my personal preferences and not by how badly done a game is.

I play around 70% of my games with kb+m and the rest with either my gamepad of my flighstick.

Great news but I wonder if that "HD" edition will be just HD from name. Waiting for older RE games rereleased :D

About that HD, I think it will be ported X360 version of RE4 HD with mouse support etc.

Resident Evil 4 PC already exists and they have made updated versions for everything else at this point.

It won't kill you to buy a now cheap console and catch up on the exclusives you missed. PS3 has some great games.

Dragon's Dogma is one of the games that REALLY NEEDS a PC version. I normally have no problem playing console ports and for the most part I think they are just fine. Dragons Dogma though, with its horrible framerate and sub hd resolution(1220x608) really hurts the game. Otherwise I do love the game, but framerate and the blurry, blown up graphical quality do really take a toll.

I really enjoyed the Wii controls, but I lost interest when I had to start escorting that chick around. Escort missions are always a huge drag.

There are some games that do it right. The one in Vampire Rain would hide the moment enemies popped up so you could take care of them.

And some that do it incredibly wrong. Never play Soldier of Fortune: Payback, it has a suicidal escort peon. And yes, I mean suicidal. He runs in front of every enemy firing, and being clipped means starting over. I never passed that level.

That won't help with the framerate or the other shortcomings of the PS2 version. Right now the best version is the Wii one running on Dolphin. Hopefully that will change.

wut? every ps2 game runs on 50fps (pal) or 60fps (ntsc) i dont know what you're talking about. Also pcsx2 can upscale textures pretty good, for example FFX nearly looks the same as the HD remake....

"every ps2 game runs on 50fps (pal) or 60fps (ntsc)"

Erm...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, many are 30fps and emulation cannot simply change that. I know that there is patch that makes Kingdom Hearts 2 run at 60fps but I don't know of any other game that had a patch like that developed for it. Emulation doesn't fix any framerated drops either. Upscaling is limited by what is originally there, it's not some CSI "enhance" magic. This is why other emulators have a function that alows them to replace the original textures of the game; I don't know what's preventing PCSX2 from having one. FFX HD has received noticeable upgrades both in models and textures.

dont forget that emulation PCSX2 uses auto frame skip to keep the framerate stable
