I listen to a lot of audio books nowadays.

What games work well with that, you'd say?

Don't tell me Euro Truck Sim 2. That's a game for unemployed middle aged men with big bellies /s

How about the X-series? X3: terran conflict is usually considered to be the best one of the lot. Apart from that, most 4X games should work well.

Anything storyless. Endless runners, casual smartphone level titles, maybe time management, or stuff like Superhot (which is a criss between action and puzzle). Or maybe single-player arena shooter types, like a campaign mode in UT2004. Also, exploration games. And sandbox ones. Those are probably the best: Minecraft & Co.

I've found that most third person games don't work for me, muted.

+1 One of the few games where your own music won't ruin the mood.

I usually listen to stuff (music, lectures...) while playing Path of Exile, Diablo 3 or Hearthstone, because they don't require you to focus and read stuff, they're quite mechanical if you know them well. Plus, PoE and HS are free to play!

A multiplayer fps, as long as it's not something tactical like cs:go or seige. I've been listing to a lot of podcast and creepy stories recently while playing titanfall.

Banished is very playable. Sound in that game is just quiet music mixed with ambience of forest, markets, farming, etc

I'd imagine Cities: Skylines to also be playable.
